Just get Vuze and add search tracker templates to it. That way you only need one search box to get results from multiple trackers.

My 2 cents,
Newsgroups are a waste of time, I went down that road, by the time you sift through all of the bullshit and finally get everything working, you still have to find a way to get access to a good list(s) or otherwise be forced to sort through all of the spam and garbage when you are looking for something you want on a public list.
But why go through all of that trouble? it just over complicates things more than they need to be.
If you're smart, save yourself the headache and get on a good private torrent tracker and use 'qBittorrent' because it allows sequential file downloading (nothing like the bullshit 'stream' feature on utorrent).. and allows for actual video streaming when a torrent is well seeded.. hence the private tracker..
This way you get the most recent content, without the hassle, and you get to watch it almost instantly.

Oh also, for anyone worried about having to maintain a ratio on private torrent sites, don't.
The money you pay for newsgroup subscription would easily pay for a seedbox for a week or two and on a highly populated private tracker, that's all you need to get a couple terabytes of upload under your belt which will last you a couple years of heavy downloading.
And even if you didn't want to go down the seedbox route, you can use that same money and just donate to the site to get upload credit.

I only use piratebay (I know old school)... I hear newsgroups are amazing, but I can't figure them out.

I go the usenet route. It is the easiest thing ever.
I use giganews for access and only deal with nzb files for content so it is simple. I am on a mac and my process is:
1. go to nzbmatrix
2. find something i want
3. click download nzb. it downloads in a second
4. this auto opens into the program unison
5. unison downloads all the files that are listed in the nzb at blazing speed
6. 3-4 minutes later my movie parts will be done downloading
7. unison compiles everything together into a file named after the movie and auto deletes all rar and par files after the movie is put together in the file.
8. I watch the movie 8ish minutes after clicking download nzb

+1 for SABnzbd+ (also have used Grabit)
+1 for NZBMatrix and also Newzbin2 for organized indexing.

+1 for Usenet/Newsgroups. Been using it since '92 and they still put torrents to shame.
