I've been trying to establish a cost-per-lead relationship with quality "lead generators" for three goddamn months. Is everyone in this business a crook?

We are a legitimate business wiling to pay well for for good leads. I've been through 4 suppliers who keep setting up bullshit scams to send us traffic. Reg-path crap and Sweepstakes bullshit.

I've phoned about 30 "reputable" lead generation/affiliate companies and I'm beginning to feel like they're all a bunch of lying assholes.

We're so desperate for traffic that I'm about to start taking out ads in the fucking newspaper.

This is a fully funded University of Michigan Ross School of Business project that was established after extensive surveys and focus groups. Our service is truly attractive to participants and is free for christ sake.

Maybe I'm just dealing with low-life affiliate dickheads trying to scam their way to a couple hundred grand a month..or perhaps I just need some guidance.

Is anyone reading this actually capable of marketing a company in exchange for money? Or is everyone just willing to get a check from us for sending my creative to some incentive bullshit? Why bother with all the fucking trouble? just fill out my form yourselves and I'll send you a goddamn check!!

I'm sorry for this post from a "newbie" thats not in the business, but on the other side of the table.

I'm just fishing for a group with some talent and morals who will actually work for a living. My "payouts" are great but keep in mind that I am the end user and not just a mover of data.

Oh yea, to all those that my respond to this...

If you want to contact me to try and scam my business, GO FUCK YOURSELF.

If anyone is actually comfortable with their own level of honesty, hard work, dedication, and capability and as a marketer, please contact me.

thanks and have a nice day...

Like Jathan said, the particular niche we're talking about is important.

Irregardless, there are some amazing affiliates on these boards that push impressive amounts of LEGIT traffic and leads. Unless you've directly received bad leads from any of the WF members I'd suggest a different approach ... although you did make your point very clear.

Agreed, there are tons of affiliates out there looking for shortcuts to big cash BUT the intelligent affiliates stay privvy to the quality of their leads on the backend .. because they realize thats what pays their bills at the end of the day.

Just my 2 cents.

Sorry about the scam attempts.

Maybe you could display a little less 'tude and tell us more about the business and the leads you want.

Anyway, you had to learn about this shit somehow, its probably better you didn't become wildly successful first and then lose your bundle to a con artist.

By the way it might be useful to some here if you post the names of a few operations that you consider to be scammers.

I have a very one on one approach for leads. Start small, very personalized service.

PM me and we can talk.

HH

Alright.

I'm very sorry for the crap approach.

My CS team spent the last 24 hours apologizing to a grand total of 478 people for whom I now owe $10 a piece. (which i refuse to pay). Apparently they are pissed that they had to fill out my form to get the sweepstakes page.

This is the 3rd time I've been through this, and rather than blame myself for bad choices again, I wanted to point my finger a bit.

Again, I'm sorry, and I recognize that my approach was not the way to earn a good relationship with decent people.

The niche is within residential real estate. Our clients are people who want to sell or buy a home. Our service free and is totally legitimate. It is informational in nature (think Zillow, etc). No CC info, no SSN. just a few fields, Name, phone, email, and describe what they want to do...buy or sell a house, and for how much, etc.

We don't sell the data to a bunch of people, rather, we contact the client ourselves to begin the process which never includes selling them anything. Its a consumer advocacy service that i would use myself.

Perhaps my problem is that I'm dealing with guys that are used to sending traffic to companies that are just reselling the data to anyone that will buy it. We are actually the end-user and scrub the data via phone call the second it comes in.

I've been barraged by emails and phone calls from companies offering their lead-gen services. Just a few minutes of due diligence has uncovered almost 100% bullshit from these folks. From 2-man organizations to publicly traded companies (Valueclick), I can't seem to get an honest participant.

I would love to hear from the capable and decent amongst you. Again, sorry for the rant. Just had my fill of bad news first thing this morning..

That's funny because I feel the say way about many scumbag advertisers... I do my best to stay in contact and sent legitimate quality leads to the advertisers I work with but there are some that still scrub the living shit out of me whenever they feel like it... I guess it works both ways huh.

You need some guidance. Inexperience is the fastest way to get screwed out of big bucks as an advertiser in this industry.

Just go to leadpoint.com and buy. If no good, LP should be very easy to deal with.

Furthermore,

I signed up with a company to run an email campaign. Within 1 business day, i started getting phone calls and emails from the networks that our marketer was sending our offer through.

They were all trying to sell-out my marketer by trash-talking them and asking me to bypass them to sign an exclusive. More than one claimed to have personal relationship to my marketer, describing their time hanging out with those guys, etc. etc.

Those companies are all over this forum. Thats how I found this place.

So perhaps I threw around some explicit words, but I think the real "pricks" are guys that sell out their friends for a little business. Its particularly odd that these dicks think I will do business with a group that would thieve from their own friends.

Perhaps this can turn into a decent story. I'll reply to the PMs I just recieved and start the discussion.

I promise, however, that if one of these guys pulls some crap, I think I'll go insane..

does anyone have experience with leadpoint? I joined leadpile and have yet to give it a try but when I registered with leadpoint, they wanted $2,500 just to take a peek - no thanks.

Here's a fucking idea: CALL LEADPOINT. Why the fuck would you 1) tell the web/competition what you do and where you're buying and 2) ask for free advice from total strangers and expect your future to be bright?

Someone already joked about Glengarry Glen Ross, don't make me NOT joke about it and go all Alec Baldwin on your broke ass.

Holy shit, who the fuck are you?
I didn't tell anyone what I buy or what I do - this is a forum and I was seeking feedback before shoveling cash down a worthless black hole.

Take it outside, ladies.
The OP is here for some help, not a Domestic.

P1Cracer: Nah, you've come to the right place mate. If you can wade through the "hilarity", there are a lot of good people here that really know their shit, and someone's likely to be able to help you out here.
I'm not that person (I kinda suck at SEO, but I'm good at the lateral stuff), but there are several people here who have some amazing methods and will probably help you without robbing you blind.

I'm just a guy who made six figures each year the PAST 4 YEARS sending leads to brokers and banks. Leadpoint, until about 9 months ago, was a fucking Goldmine for guys like you, thanks to guys like me.

What's my name? Fuck you, that's my name.
