I followed the Eureka Diary tut so you will notice the similarity. The site is Best Camera Bargains. That tutorial was excellent and I wanted to give +rep to the author on his website but there is no contact info. I figure they are members here so I will say A++++ and thanks for time you took to create the tut.

The tutorial taught me a few things about wordpress that I didn't even know.

Anyways please review and give your honest opinion. I am not completely finished with site and plan to add more content on the home page but I need a break right now.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Plus here is a little something for your trouble...

Good work!
Nice domain, nice looking site, even has some articles for added keywords.
Good use of keywords in your urls.

Let us know how it pans out :)

Nice job on the site. Any tips on how you got a pr2 with no back links?

Backlinkwatch shows 346 backlinks. Google does not show any. Google is showing indexed pages and return results for the domain name. Google PR is tuff to figure out. Folks say that backlinks is key but I built a blog for my dad about a year ago and he has a whopping 1 post. He does not do any seo or linking what so ever and his site is a pr 2, go figure. I think that G will give pr based off of relevence and longivity. Higher pr may require endepth link building but hell tomorrow it could be different. I think pr is eye candy and when you got it you better sell it. But hell pr is such bs though. NFL.com is a pr 7? How much more fucking relevent could that site be? Sites like these should be pr 10's easy. So that only tells me that traffic or type in score must play a role as well. NFL.com is seasonal in traffic.

The domain I bought from auction for the sole purpose of phpbay. Having the pr is nice becuase I do not need worry about if G is crawling my site. With wordpress pings, the articles I post will call the G bot back.

Awesome job... nice layout and like how you broke down the price points.

The ONLY thing I would suggest is replace the bland blue box in the header and replace with a pic of a camera.

Glad you liked my tutorial :D

You followed it very well and the only thing I would recommend is filling out those areas in the main content on the homepage. You have "Digital Cameras", "Film Cameras", "Lighting & Equipment", etc... surrounded by a ton of white space. It looks a bit off, I'd add some more text to it.

I'd also consider adding an "opening line" of text/copy to each page.

Replace that blue box in the header with a picture of a camera

I would also consider changing the title of the page you are using for homepage to something else... perhaps something more keyword oriented you are targeting for the SERPs but its fine the way it is, too.

Very well done! Keep us up to date with its progress!

Thank you for everybodies suggestions. I do plan on adding more content to home page Plus add more pics of cameras in the header as well as some camera icons. I also plan to add a full top navigation and maybe add some drop down menus and a popular category. This all takes time though. I greatly appreciate trigatch4 for the tutorial.

I am in the process of setting up another site and plan on using the same theme. The cool part about using the same theme is all I need to do is copy the theme pages from my previous site and overwrite the theme install on the new site (Wordpress Rocks by the way). Now I can go straight to customizing and adding phpbay pages.

A gift for those that replied.....

It appears the site has item links that redirect to an ebay link. Won't big G penalize redirects? I always believed that was a no-no. I know my BANS script doesn't do that. If you hover the mouse over a product detail in BANS, the link shows ebay.

Tell me I am mistaken? I like the look and layout of the phpbay sites I have seen, actually better than the BANS sites.

You are mistaken.

get an auction on your home page, featured product category in the left sidebar for example.

This is a great call. I like that tutorial, but the problem is that it does not set it up to have auctions on the homepage. I NEVER create a phpBay site without auctions on the home page.

Unless it was in one of the recent updates, which i have yet to install, you can't put auctions in the sidebar. There was a widget for this for phpBay 2.5, but don't think it's ready yet for phpBay 3.X

I have the same theme on my golf ball site see how i added featured items do the middle of the page (check my sig...)
