Well, actually him and his wife both lost their jobs.

Not sure if any non-local news outlets are reporting on this story (happened about 10min from where I live), so I thought I'd post it here.

Apparently being out of work and in debt justifies murdering your wife and 5 children. At least he had the sense to kill himself afterward.

But seriously, WTF is wrong with people? Lost his job so he's got to liquidate the family? Jesus, there are jobs around. Most of them won't keep you in the lifestyle you're used to, but they'll keep food in your mouth.
Things are still nowhere as bad as they were in the Great Depression, and people are already starting to go Mad Max.
 
It has nothing to do with the Great Depression or the current state of our economy.

The fucking moron bought a $300,000 and made NO down payment on it, obviously didn't make the payments, and then refinanced. He dug himself into the deepest hole of shit before his job was even close to being in jeopardy.

The fact that he killed his children makes me sick to my stomach, meanwhile you worthless fucks crack jokes and dick around when a story like this is brought up.

Some people are retarded, 5 fucking kids that they can't take care of and a huge mortgage. I want to feel bad, and I do for the kids, but these people where fuck from the get go.

#1 Don't have kids.
#2 Don't have more kids.

Living outside of your means because you can't keep your dick in your pants or use a condom / birth control is not a good answer. Period.

I know some will disagree, but your as fucked up as they are.

While it's as you say (people being far from smart), a lot of us wouldn't be alive today if our parents kept waiting for the 'optimal/appropriate' time to have kids.

Far as the Family in question... maybe they were doing decently prior to the economy going downhill. But I agree with everyone else here, that pretty much killing off the family due to job loss is really fucked up. If I were ever in the same situation, and I knew for sure I was going to be homeless, I'd give my kids up to the state if I couldn't find a relative to take care of them. Because who knows... maybe they'll manage to do better than I years down the road. What he did to his family was purely selfish.

Optimal time has not as much to do with it, having more kids than you can possibly take care of, even with halfway decent jobs is bullshit. My last girlfriend had 12 kids in the family, made me fucking sick. There's having kids, and theres having way more than you can take care of.

Agree entirely, people in this world are a bunch of whining fucking pussies. They step out of their fucking great 4WD pickups, to use the cash machine (ATM) and if they haven't got enough in there to do their usual monster shopping strip to fill their big fat sausage chomping fucking faces, they immediately start banging on about how fucking 'poor' they are, and that they 'live on the breadline', and 'life is so hard'.

Fuck off. I'm genuinely poor, poor as fuck I tell you, and do you see me whine about it????????????

That still doesn't matter. Even if there is a "surprise", the point is to deal with it and not dig yourself into a hole. So they had a kid when they didn't plan on it or couldn't afford it? Live with it and don't make the mistake again. Instead, this guy made 5 mistakes, bought a house he couldn't afford and tried to scam the system numerous times. Sorry, I don't have any sympathy for him.

Dude didn't snap. They planned this, him and the wife. Pulled the kids out of school like the week before and told everyone they were moving out of state to Kansas. They faxed a note to the local news station who in turn called the police.

Suicide is stupid, and for the weak. as far as killing the kids.....really jusr at a loss for words on that.
