just wanted to throw this out there, but my whole life i've been around people that love talking about fucking sports. now i'm not one of them, but theres ppl i know that all they watch is sportcenter and all they do is not every stat about every professional player ... like they know so much about them like they could be their best friend

to me.. i never understood this. i never wanted to know so much about a person that was never going to do anything for me or benefit me in anyway.

does anyone else know what i'm talkin about? and does it piss you off as much as it does for me.

I like some sports, but I don't watch sportscenter, can't quote many stats, don't discuss sports on a daily basis, and don't play in any fantasy leagues.

I know some people like you are talking about though and they often do annoy me.

baseball and football - but fuck ESPN as a whole. all they do is suck the cocks of the yankees, red sox, colts, and patriots

I'll be the first to admit I'm a sports addict. I played football in college and just grew up playing sports. I don't jock athletes though...I appreciate the game, but really could care less about stats, etc. I also greatly prefer to watch college sports vs pros.

this is respectable. i don't hate sports, i played soccer and baseball in high school, but i hate people that jerk off to ESPN and suck off pro athletes

the lonely boyz song was awesome btw ... can't believe i never saw that

soccer is the only mainstream sport that I'll follow - even then it's half-assed.

But I enjoy individual sports greatly, 'doing' not watching. Surfing/paragliding/mountain biking/scuba diving/skateboarding are all good times by me.

I don't like sports at all nor do I see the appeal.

However I do like to watch golf. I want football every saturday but thats mainly cause everyone has parties for it here. Go and eat food / drink beer.

I love college and nfl football and will watch as much as I can. When it comes to baseball, basketball and even hockey, all I can watch is the playoffs. There are just too many games in their seasons to really care about every game. I do watch sportscenter usually once a day and that is it.

And I watch golf too BigWill, no shame in that.

hockey FTW!

Don't like most sports, never have.

But I do respect and see the appeal in sports that actually make you good at something that is a useful skill.

This includes hunting, archery, shooting, all forms of fighting, etc.
And I even enjoy watching martial arts.

I'm with u OP. It's worse when your're on a college campus. It's always about "The Game". "Did you see it?" "wasn't the game crazy?". I think it's the way I was brought up. My parents never watched sports so I never ever saw the appeal in them. To me it's just flat out boring and I'd rather watch something else.

What I don't understand is how people are obsessed with "sports" not just a particuilar one. You can talk to people about any sport, be it basketball, or football, or hockey and they suddenly know every stat of every player and need to know how their fantasy team is doing.

ugh

Grew up watching sports, but never really got into it until college. Something about following the college team made me interested.

I agree on the stats and knowledge bullshit, though. It irks me in all forms, not just sports. Like when you say "Oh who's that guy in the movie?" and someone says, "You don't know? He's dating her, and they were in this other film together, and now they have this drama or whatever."

Devoting yourself to "knowing" people you've never met is half the problem with this country, IMHO. Tiger and Britney Spears do not give a shit about you. Go read to your kids.

TENNIS FTW. Just because I'm a Bostonian doesn't mean I'm on the Red Sox/Patriots jock. Tennis is the best sport ever, and it's actually pretty fun to watch.

Baseball is fun to play, but let's be honest... It's boring as fuck to watch unless you're in the stadium, which depending on your seats is still boring as fuck.

Boxing, Football, and Hockey are only entertaining cause their violent (although Football itself is pretty funny to play)

Soccer is a pretty beast sport altogether and definitely in my opinion comes second to Tennis (although I respect why it's first for many people).
But this you have to understand about soccer... If it wasn't a good sport it wouldn't be number one, in terms of popularity, in the world.

I played soccer for a majority of my life. Only then I watch qualifiers or World Cup games. I fucking hate conversations dominated by sports. A new year, a new star player, rinse and repeat.
