i got the idea to start this thread from miller2348's thread. any way i would like to start investing. i only get about 3% right now on interest, which isn't anything. i'm a beginner who simply wants to know how to start.. from the basics. how to actually get set up, etc. step by step.

i've been googling some pretty competitive keywords. i notice that many sites have very little pr and hardly any backlinks, yet they are the 1st, 2nd, 3rd result for competitive/popular keywords. how is this happening?
