I've been immersing myself in the world of AM for the last few weeks, and I'm learning a lot. But I've noticed that a lot of the content out there is from earlier years and that there aren't as many posts about the industry today. Can anyone shed some light on what the industry is like nowadays and the differences between now and say 2009? Specifically, what's going on with PPC and is the advice from 2009 about PPC still relevant in today's environment?

Small bump. PPC is still a huge thing.

And no 2009 advice is not legit anymore because the industry changes way too fast(think weekly).

Hope this helps.

Walt :)

Most of the technical stuff like campaign structure, split testing principles etc are of course still the same. So I'd say if you mastered these basic principles things will be pretty much the same for you as in 2009 as far as setting up new promotions go.

It's like any industry, keep yourself up to date and you'll do just fine.

The principles haven't changed. Links from aged, high authority, high trust sites are the best way to rank quickly.

The biggest difference between now and 2009 is that there are fewer people who know how to break the principles and succeed, and they're also less vocal.
