About 6-9 months ago when I first started, I was pretty retarded on keyword research. One of the things I did when purchasing domains was buy 3 that include a trademark in them, which is verizon, sprint, and at&t (if that gives you an idea of my niche for those sites lol). I've recently (past 3-4 weeks) starting doing some serious link building and all 3 sites are climbing the serps for the key phases that they are included in.
It just became aware to me that any day I could have these domains pulled from me, and even worse things could happen if I'm unlucky. I'd rather not risk the chance with the money I'm about to start pouring into these sites, so I registered a generic hyphenated domain that relates closely to most of my key phases that these domains are ranking for.
If I 301 all 3 trademarked sites to my new generic one, does all SERP rankings pass to the new domain, or does it take somewhat of a hit in rankings? I've never used a 301 before but I see a lot of talk about it so I need a little help with how to handle this. Do I let the site age a few weeks/months? Throw some content on it and build some links before 301ing? Anything specific I need to know before doing?
Complete newbie question and I'd appreciate any help with it, thanks.
