I just can't understand why companies will give a free 3G iPhone Gift just for a ZIP SUBMIT...what is in it for the companies?

Well, they don't just "give" them away. If you look at the offer page I bet somewhere it says "with completion of program requirements". Basically, when you enter you zip code you are taken to certain offers and generally have to sign up for a few of them before your "free" iphone will be shipped out.
same thing, almost all zip and email submit offers require the person to complete other offers to get their free shit.
