So, like 99% of the members here, I decided to get into arbitrage. It seemed a little too easy to be successful and I thought I'd dive right in (although I needed prodding, the topics here were/are really motivational).
After doing arbitrage for the last 10 days I'm rather pleased as things are going well (and with nice CTRs). HOWEVER....
..there's always a but, isn't there?
I read a few days ago on here that people were having problems with Searchfeed and traffic spikes. For a couple of people these had led to Adsense bans and this is what really concerns me (seeming I'm only just starting out and want to develop content sites - admittedly MFA, but anyway..)
I decided to deactivate my Searchfeed account temporarily and monitor things here with other people's accounts.
Now this is the interesting thing. My Adsense income has heavily decreased (although still making a profit). In short, I've found that:
1) Searchfeed sends a higher volume of traffic than 7search but the traffic doesn't convert anywhere near as well
2) However, because it is only from more affluent countries (US, UK etc) my CPC in Adsense is alot higher. Even though my CTR with Searchfeed may only be around 15%, I make far more than my campaigns with 7search that get a 30-40% CTR.
I reactivated my SF account a few days ago and ran the same campaign there and on 7Search. An average day was as follows:
I had 11 clicks on SF and 2 Adsense - this earned me nearly $3 (profit around $1.60)
I had 4 clicks on 7S and 3 Adsense - this earned me less than $1. (profit around $0.80)
Don't forget, this is the exact same campaign.
So, even though the CTR is far lower, my earnings are higher. I put this down to the fact that, for example, if a person on my 7S campaign is from, say, Thailand, the ads shown over there will pay far less due to their economy etc whereas Searchfeed only seems to be having traffic from decent paying countries.
Does this make any sense?
I really want to reactive my SF account permanently but I'm very concerned about the problems people have been having here. I do NOT want to get banned off Adsense, regardless of whether or not I can set up another in a business name. It's unnecessary hassle.
So, if you've had problems with SF then I'd really like to know.
And, of course, any other 2/3tier PPC recommendations are always welcomed
