Relying On Talent...

Hey guys,

I'm in bed having pillow talk w/my gf a few weeks back, talking about how I want to start up a karma marketing give back movement/experiment/etc. with some of my moniezes 'cause I'm doin' ok and if it wasn't for someone opening a door/opportunity for me years ago I wouldn't be here. . ....

So Some brainstorming and I jump out of bed, godaddy a bit to find a good name for the movement (Thx Zimok and a few others for the help digging for the right one), and decide to put up 10K to give to 10 underdogs with talent to startup 10 new.com's with me later once I narrow it down from all the submissions we get.

So I make an ass of myself on cam, do up a video blog inviting talent/underdogs, blast a lil' youtube love and facebook viral integration and see what the fuck happens.. .. .

Here is what has happened so far it's been 2 weeks LOOK PLEASE (SAFE I PROMISE) >>

I try not to ever really ask for help until needed and I'm spent re options. In this case I'm not, it's actually going ok, however I think the fact that it's gotten to this point naturally without much effort just potential up front and a platform for all these guys to express themselves for a reward/opp shows there is merit/demand and grass roots level it's working. I'd like fast track and get it out there faster/farther.

Can I ask WF to give me a hand with this? It's straight good karma, it's a real 10K I'm putting up, but morally I won't let myself spend much more on advertising it (ok I'm lying I spent a bit already but really want to stop and let karma do its work). So I'm asking for any awareness anyone can spare.

Really appreciate whatever anyone can do, like/share/tweet/whatever - and I know some might think it's a fuct idea, or I'm just throwing 10K away, or whatever other notion comes to mind but I'm following through on this no matter what.

Can you guys give me some feedback/a hand at all I would be forever greatful and you get to help the underdogs.

Cheers and thanks a lot bro's.
Norb.

FB status the link. Hope it helps.

Is this thing only open to musicians/artists because it seems that is what you're getting so far?

Graphics are dope like always and sounds like a cool idea... hope it works out well norb

It sounds pretty interesting, but yeah it does seem like you're only targeting people within the music industry. I would recommend maybe talking to a few teachers at a few schools and asking which of their IT/computer students have an entrepreneurial heart. Most teachers know how to spot that.

Maybe make it more viral-karma? Put something like "If the friend you recommend or invite to the website wins the $1,000, you will get $100". If you're only giving out to 10 people, that in-reality would only be another $1k and would probably inspire friends to tell other friends.

Thanks guys!!!!!!!!

Yeah I guess because it's branded a lil' urban/fire/breakdancers etc. it does seem to be getting vocal talent, which then quickly attracts more vocal talent, and so here I am :( however no it's open to pretty much any talent, and it's explained throughout pretty quick once you get to any pages - But I'm doing my best to reach out to model/actor/designer crowds and sites too, have actually contacted almost every major news network and a few big TV talkshow names just to see if I'd get some bites but nothing yet.

On the flip side it's gone from a few hits a day to 500 uniques yesterday - and it's at 569 today at 4:17pm Toronto time, most traffic is coming from facebook and the like/share buttons - so just from a case study perspective the social sharing and user generated buzz works pretty damn well, every one of these guys get their own page when they qualify and on each page there are separate button sets so it's all feeding/growing itself, but I'd still love to get some major mention somewhere. So I'm dedicating more time to just reach out into teh universe too see this whole law of attraction/karma stuff at work. Really cool to see some of these kids put themselves out there and some have been pretty hot.

I'm not sure if people can vote for their friends, but if they could you'd get more traffic for sure... they'd be dropping links in forums, their social networks, email etc. etc.

^Yup all over it, they have to vote for their friends to get them past the pre-qualifier round, then once each gets their own qualifier page their job is to get as many likes/shares/comments/tweets etc. as they can on their own pages.

The few good things I got them to do so far re seo for me 1. titling the videos properly re our brand keyword (trying to avoid G picking it up here), linking to the site from each vids description as a rule to get submissions accepted, and 2. Make a facebook group called '10khustle-city-name/crew' and invite everyone they can, not everyone is doing both but they are indeed starting to.

Impressed with the last few days though check it out: Also the traffic to actual talent submission ratio is pretty good.
