According to The Mail on Sunday

Quote: "The bitter winter afflicting much of the Northern Hemisphere is only the start of a global trend towards cooler weather that is likely to last for 20 or 30 years, say some of the world’s most eminent climate scientists.

Their predictions – based on an analysis of natural cycles in water temperatures in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans – challenge some of the global warming orthodoxy’s most deeply cherished beliefs, such as the claim that the North Pole will be free of ice in summer by 2013.

According to the US National Snow and Ice Data Centre in Colorado, Arctic summer sea ice has increased by 409,000 square miles, or 26 per cent, since 2007 – and even the most committed global warming activists do not dispute this."

daily mail fail.

Why fail? You think the article is bullshit? Why?

Personally I've always felt that the climate moves in cycles: it gets warmer for some years and then it gets colder for some years. It has been getting warmer and now it will get cooler.

The amount goes back up regularly, but look at the overall trend.

The following talks about how land ice and overall ice can decrease, while sea ice increases :
Is Antarctica losing or gaining ice?

More people need to learn that global warming is about temps on the planet as a whole, most of which is water. Predictions for warmth overall do not necessarily apply to Florida or England. Increased heat in one area can lead to changes in jet streams and such, which can make other areas cooler than normal. "The Day After Tomorrow" movie was a hyper-exaggerated version of this.

Now if Florida has record highs in August, other people will claim that as proof, but it will again be important to realize that it is just another piece of the big puzzle.

In Ontario we've having a fairly mild winter - heck the forecast is for above freezing weather the next few days - relatively unheard of in january.

I love how when the Brits and Florida get some cold weather, it means the dawn of a new ice age.
