I've played around with Google Tag Manager and Tealium, but I was wondering if it's possible for them to actually see campaign type data if you use their tag manager. Let's ignore Google, since they know everything. If I use a container from Tealium or another 3rd party tag manager to stick my conversion pixels and what not, how much can they actually see?

I feel like I'm missing a very simple concept here, but can they see referrals for conversions and other good shit like that? Can Johnny Numbnuts who makes shit money at Tealium peak at what I'm doing and replicate anything?
My guess is all they can see is conversion source, if anything, but I'm a retard so I figured I'd ask The Wise Council.

The Wise Council is having cigars & brandy in the Enlightened section. This is the Sandbox, help yourself to tap water and a peppermint.

DIsclaimer: Late night post.

I have not used it, but just like others, it seems to be a piece of JavaScript code which communicates with the backend.

Anything (whether you call it a tag management system, or tag, or JavaScript snippet, or program, or code) which exchanges data with another host, can transfer almost anything which it wants to.

>>can they see referrals for conversions and other good shit like that?

Extremely simplified answer:
It can read whatever is on that page. And possibly more, depending on what is on that page. Read the section "Data layer": https://moz.com/blog/what-is-tag-management

A "play by the rules" Tag Management System should send only the data which you tell it to send. A rogue TMS implementation can send whatever it wants. You can use something like Fiddler to examine what is being sent.

Edit: I drink tap water, so take my answer with a pinch of peppermint. The Wise Counsel over at Enlightened Section may be able to help you more. ;)
