About to buy a laptop

At that price range almost everything is going to be the same.

Although that has the "ThinkPad" brand labeled on it, it's build quality is not equal to that of the infamous T series ThinkPads.

Look at what's on sale, keep an eye on LogicBuy, and just get xyz laptop from a big sale. Make sure you get something suitable to your needs in terms of battery life, weight, resolution, etc., the not-so-little things that are often overlooked. Keep in mind that Intel's new Sandy Bridge architecture will be released in the new year, and is expected to be a large improvement in all areas over the iX processors.

Asus or IBM is good. Some people think Acer is a shit tier brand, but it's good depending on the series, mine is 5 years and still running strong.

if by setting up campaigns you mean streaming fap material across your wireless then you need a sturdy hp with widescreen

Sony supporter i must admit...

FW140 is a GREAT machine to pick up if you can find one, nice big wide screen and i have never had any issues with speed.

.

Have many Thinkpad did you own? or just something you read on the interweb?

I owned three thinkpad, one IBM and two lenovo. No quality issue at all. Only complain is the weak speak..but it is a business class laptop so can't really complain

I agree with you .. IBM = Lenovo is brand that is very good. Dell is also good.

My friend has been using IBM laptops for many years .. very durable .. but make sure the laptop that meets your needs.

you use the laptop for what? game? work? etc.. important..

I've had an Acer, Dell, and now a HP... no complaints with any. Whoever has a decent deal and a nice looking model.

Probably going with Asus. Me hear many good thing about exciting computer unit.

asus?... ermm.. many people said ASUS motherboard is the best producer in the world, but I never use it. maybe that is true.. price: expensive medium.

acer.. suitable for students, but there are some tools/hardware can easily be damaged.. (friends experience).

Nothing comes close to Asus if it comes to prize/equipment at least here in Europe. Not sure if this also counts for laptops sold in the states.

Asus UL30A here. Was $579 with free shipping and no tax from Amazon. This is a 13" laptop with tons of battery life for traveling - I don't need power, all of my stuff is done on the internet.

I love it, but the touchpad sucks. I'm almost always using a small IOGear mouse though.

Might be cheaper now, but ASUS is putting together some nice laptops.

You misunderstood. The T-Series is the ThinkPad line known for it's quality, the SL series isn't.
