Accurate Backlink Checker

Can someone shoot me an "accurate" backlink checker. I understand there is no 100% sure fire accurate checker but if you have one that you prefer and is reliable shoot it over to me. I have been using Backlinks Checker Tool - Backlink Watch and I have mixed feelings about it.

How in the world can the two sites be so different in the way they are reporting backlinks? I could see if the variance was 50-100 but a variance of 3,320?

Where are you putting your links up? In the case of lots of cheap links being shut down at the source, some backlink checkers pick it up more quickly than others.


Are your logs giving you any indication of traffic sources dropping off?

* I see you're using backlink watch. They're notorious for showing hundreds of links that have been completely closed down.

Pretty much a useless resource if you really need to drill down into a site that has any decent amount of history to it.

No backlink checkers are accurate because they use different mechanisms and search engines (of course NOT google). After all what actually matters is how google indexed your website backlinks -how many backlinks you have according to google.

You can see the backlink count in google webmaster tools too. That's the accurate source but you can use it for your own site only.

I think you would get an even bigger number if you check it with SEO Spyglass

Looks like I will just keep it to AHREF and Majestic. As long as I can get some type of decent baseline to gauge the progress that is all I need. I used to do all the backlinking myself but that takes a lot of work. I went ahead and tried botwiz's dripfeed system at 4,000/day to see how that works out.

Just check your samples and it looks like ahrefs shows and counts a lot of internal links, so that may explain the huge difference to a certain extend.
