End of the rainbow
Ok so I'm adding a stand-up desk to my setup for a little variety. I hate sitting down so much, and the treadmill desk I tried in the past didn't work out very well for me, so I think this will be a good middle ground.

I currently have 3 monitors running off of 1 video card. I'd like to add 3 more monitors in the stand-up area (just a few feet away), but I want to connect them to the same PC rather than having to add another PC.

I've never done this shit before, but apparently I can do this with a reverse KVM switch? If so that would be sweet. I've started doing a little research and I assume I want one of the newer style electronic ones vs. the old school mechanical switches.

Can any of you gay webmasters point me in the right direction for a good reverse KVM switch for multiple monitors?

Right on thanks for the info, I'll look into that. Never done this crap before.

This is just a test for a month or so with a POS standup I got from IKEA. If I can get used to it and it seems like it's going to work I'll throw down for a steelcase or something.

These seem to operate like a standard KVM switch - I need the opposite. I have 1 computer and I want to use 2 sets of keyboards/mouse and 2 sets of 3 monitors. Know what I mean??

Basically I think I need something like this DVI/HDMI USB KVM Splitter:

But even this won't support my 3 monitor setup I don't think.

Seems trickier than I expected. I have a brand new dell precision setup with monitors sitting in storage, I guess I will probably just bust it out and set it all up. I was just trying to avoid having to run 2 machines.

What do you need a KVM switch for? You've got 4 USB ports no? If you don't buy a USB hub and plug 2 keyboards and 2 mice in. You don't need a KVM switch. You can buy a second video card for less than some of these switches and it will be much handier in the long run. You can clone 3 monitors onto the other 3 I think.

What about the 3 monitors though? I can't use my existing monitors with the stand up "station" because it's facing the other direction!

A friend of mine has a motorized desk. Loves it. Every time I visit his office it sparks my urge to get one but I always quickly forget/lose interest. My current desk is just too pimp to replace, otherwise I would totally get one.

I stand in my kitchen with 2 laptops most of the day. I don't know why. Don't go in office unless I need to use desktop or fax / print shit.

Not really an answer to your question, but good choice with the stand up desk. I've been using one for the last month or so. Fuckin amazing. I was starting to have back problems from sitting down so much.

Your legs might get tired during the first few months, so just have a stool that you can use once every few hours.

I dunno why these standing desks are so fuckin expensive though. I found an awesome deal on Craigslist ($300 for a table that is valued around $1200). But every other table I found that was half decent was over $1,500. Keep in mind, I was looking for something that can fit two monitors.

I said earlier that you should be able clone one set of three onto the other set using your display software.

Sorry didn't see that part. I just checked and of course I don't have 2 PCIE slots. Doh. Well I guess I'll set-up the other rig and the upside is I'll have a backup computer working at all times. Fun fun fun.
