If you knew how fucking old I am, you'd be floored that I just came to this realization.

Saw a Psychologist yesterday and yeah I have adhd. She's going to mail her findings to me and I'll take that to my GP as per his instructions when I told him my suspicions last month.

So I guess that's why I've always been able to read upside and backwards, have a shit sense of direction and am a total fucktard at learning new racetracks. Dyslexia and add/adhd go pretty much hand in hand. But I do love to read, and read constantly for fun and to teach myself shit -- guess I've learned to cope? Also I'm pretty fucking good at writing short stories. Although I think my non-fiction shit is only so-so.

I also have insane concentration when I race or write or fight, oh yeah and sex too. Anyway...

I'm thinking I can possibly suggest to him what meds I'd like to try. So what's your favs my fellow adhd'ers?

Oh and btw: I put all that shit into this post so that people who recognize those things in themselves might also get help if they've never been properly diagnosed, if they are so inclined.

LOL, you should probably consult your doctor for medical advice not a bunch of gay neckbeards.

On a side note you seem like you're functioning just fine, why take meds at all?

As a child I was diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and my Dad told the doctor to shove his meds up his ass (thank god). Things like traditional schooling, testing, etc... were extremely difficult for me growing up and I did horrible at most (I worked hard to be a C student). But now that I'm a grown adult I dominate other people my age mentally, financially, and creatively. I can easily jump back and forth between several tasks at once (multi-tasking) with no problems. This has given me a huge advantage in the workplace, and then later when I decided to become an entrepreneur. The brainac "normal" kids have trouble keeping up with me now.

The article says it all... Ritalin is the best! But I agree why even bother if you already have been able to cope?

I absolutely hated Strattera. Shit put me out cold an hour after I took it. Headaches too.

Hated Concerta and Adderall (both IR and XR) for the opposite reason. Felt like I was a cracked out junkie.

Tried Vyvanse for about a month. That was ok since it felt much smoother but in the end I went with...

Nothing.

This may not work for you. I hate prescription meds. Not in a hippie-cumbaya kind of way, but I've never really had to take them in the past and I hate being dependent on something.

Exercise helps me. I know that I could be better but the meds just aren't a solution for me.

Whatever people tell you, your experience(s) can be drastically different so take everything you read/hear with a grain of salt and just try them all yourself.

Good luck bros.

Doesn't really sound like you need meds to me. Everyone can read backwards and upsidedown...

Most people can't pay attention to things that don't interest them. Have you asked yourself if you are really interested in what you are trying to study?

I was diagnosed with severe ADD in my mid-twenties, after a severe bout of depression and a lifetime of confusion. My psychiatrist started me on Adderall XR 30mg twice daily. For a while, I was king of the world, and I felt like I'd found the missing piece. I got a lot of things done, and felt like I was finally getting my life together.

The problem is, I wasn't. If I would forget to refill my script, or travel to a place where I couldn't refill, I was stuck, and a deep depression would ensue.

Eventually I realized that for me, the solution to my internal problem was not going to come through external means.

The drugs will absolutely work for you to one degree or another, but as long as you are taking them, you will need to take them in order to function at your best.

I'd advise OP to look into the long-term side effects associated with stimulant drugs before going down this route, because ADD medication is a maintenance protocol, not a cure, and over time the cost of maintenance may become truly excessive.

I have serious ADHD, and have for years. Join the club! I've never taken any medication for it.

And I think we've gone over this before.. and it was crazy how many of us marketers here on wf have ADHD or ADD.

I think there is real ADHD, then I think there are people who use it as a scapegoat in order to take pills to solve their problems.

Not saying which OP is, because I don't know... just seems the number of sudden adult ADHD diags is a little peculiar.
