AdSense on non-content sites

How well does AdSense work on sites that are service-based rather than content based?

For example, let's say you've got a free worldwide SMS app and you'd like to monetize it. The CPC is probably going to be crap but if you've got a decent amount of traffic it can work out.

Any tips? Should I sprinkle some content pages to let AdSense know what the site is about and get more targeted ads?

Adsense has in mobile app capabilities, if I'm not mistake.

I was referring to sites as applications, not mobile apps per say.

For example:
PumpSMS.com - Free SMS Worldwide - Send Unlimited international SMS - Envia mensajes gratis - Ingyen sms kuldes.
Network Tools by YouGetSignal.com

and so on.

There is adsense for mobile sites already.

you can use link units or regular adsense ads just fine on something like this.
