Adult content = hosting account banned?

I saw that a few people have had accounts banned for adult content.

From my hosts policy statement: "[Host] reserves the right to terminate your account if at any time your site has pornography ... and/or the written word of a sexual nature."

I'm not hosting images / videos. Rather, I have some (non-adult) blogs that have received comments that contain "written word of a sexual nature" -- basically readers insulting each other with vulgarity... not too different from WF in that respect :smokin:

How strict are hosts with regard to this? Really necessary to remove the content?

Thanks

you should be fine if its only words written by pple who commented while arguing with each other

the TOS mainly talks about YOU hosting images/videos/text content that is pornographic/obscene in nature.

however, you still should be able to moderate those comments and remove them , right ?

Thanks.

Yep - I'm able to moderate. For the most part, though, have just decided to let people take jabs at each other if they want.

I think it should be fine. Better to ask the the hosting directly. But some good moderating should be fine

Thanks for the input.

btw - Host is ok with this.

Also - a little research revealed that plenty of US hosting companies are ok with adult content.

Some host explicitly allow this, some forbid it. Yours forbids it, I suggest transferring our of there before they lock your site up.

Yeah it all depends on the hosting company that you go with. I notice all the companies with big names will not allow this. What I did was got offshore hosting and domains when I wanted to launch a site that has content that most would unsuitable.

Yeah. Try Hostgator... they are ok with it and they are one of the best brands in the hosting business. But even then they have policies like no religion related porn. Better to have a chat with they sales person they are helpful n will guide u better.

My past hosting provider does allowed me to upload an adult site, images or media.
Right now I have another hosting provider, a local one, and this one allows me to host xxx websites very easy.
The problem is to ask first, before you make your move and if the provider does not allow you, just move to another one which is more permissive.

Rather than trying to moderate a bunch of crude foulmouth (foulkeyboarders?) you might look for a addion/plugin for your platform to restrict "bad" words. Most people will tolerate crude posters, but you might lose one or two as a result. Just my 2½¢ worth.

HOstgator and cirtex are best hosts to choose if you have adult contents....I am using cirtex for my adult forum...

I assume you are safe since users are commenting on your blog which u can’t stop until u make some rules to allow such comments on your blog. Still it’s better if you contact your hosting company and ask them whether they are fine with it or not
