I have 4 blogs. My newest one is a Celebriy Gossip Blog I started over 2 months ago. I am seriously thinking about just scraping all together it after Posting about 135 entries in that period of time. I enjoy writing and I am decently creative and clever. So the Celebrity Blog material is easy for me to whip up pretty quick.

That being said I have to admit it is getting a little old everyday when I Blog and NEVER have a Comment and never any clicks on my Ads.
I am just wondering if I should go ahead and scrap this Site ? And concentrate on my other 3 Blogs that do make money ??

Anyone with any opinions or anyone who has a Gossip Blog out there ?? Whats your experience ?? I have heard Gossip Blogs are hard to monetize and build Adsense Earnings. From what I understand with Gossip readers no one really clicks and it is a market thats does not convert into affiliate sales easily . Whereas a sight that Blogs about say Digital Camera Acessories might be more so !!

Thanks for any help !!

It took Perez Hilton 3 years to build up his site to the point where he makes $54,000 a day.

Can't make $ without persistence

Yeah, I am just wondering with this particular niche whether it is worth it to be persistent. A few weeks ago I stumbled across an article by Darren Rowse saying how hard it was to be highly successful with monetizing a celebrity Gossip blog.

I know r with day after day of posting entries to this Blog with
strategic keywords used I am getting practically nil in Organic traffic and rank for only two phrases which is my URL name !!
I know with my money blogs it took like two weeks and I was starting to get ranking and Organic traffic!!

I wonder if ET, TMZ, Access Hollywood make it hard for small guys to get good ranking in Google ??

You can say look at Perez but honestly Perez had some HUGE breaks especially when he got picked up by a few Network Productions. He did not in way get to where he is at because of SEO Work !! Thats a fact and even he admits that !

BTW, its more like 4k a day he is making in net profit. Right out 120k a month. Not shabby. Hell, I would lock my self up in a swanky apartment 15 hours a day too if I was making that kind of coin !!

But anyway just wondering if the numbers add up as far as sale Conversions and Clicks to make it feasible and worth it to build up traffic with a Gossip Blog ??

Thanks

Seems to me like you're just full of reasons why a gossip blog won't be successful rather than trying to think of reasons on how to make it.

If I were trying to do this, first thing I'd do is get rid of the blogspot. Get yourself a wordpress theme and customize it. It's all about image and branding.

Second thing you have to ask yourself is WHY anyone would go to your blog as opposed to TMZ, Perez Hilton, or any other gossip blogs.

Perhaps doing a general gossip blog is too much, instead you can always focus on a sub-niche. Only stories about soap operas stars, Lindsay Lohan, or whatever, etc.

Don't try so hard to monetize, just work on building the followers.

i think you should just get a better niche. If you can blog about loans everyday for a year or two i guaratntee, you will make some cash.
It can be pretty painful to write about something like that , but you can always outsource it.

Go to b5media.com, look at the Entertainment channel and see how they're doing it. I never got into the advertising side of the house when I was there, but ISTR that adsense was worse than useless, and that we had a partnership with Glam to show their ads in a couple of channels.

...just work on building the followers.

I ran a celebrity gossip blog for a while and can tell you that AdCents will get you at best 5 cents a click for celebrity keywords. In fact, that's one thing affiliates do -- bid on celebrity keywords on the content network, because often they are cheap.

On the other hand, my finance blog got 50 cents a click and had people tripping over themselves to buy links. Guess what blog I keep updated?

Ok, enough negativity! Here's how to make money in the celebrity space. The big gossip blogs do it with LOTS of followers. They sell cost-per-impression ads mostly, but have millions of veiws a day. They also have images that draw high dollar advertisers. Take Gawker for instance, they wouldn't take certain ads because they wanted the blog to be for people who were young and rich, or wanted to be. That kept the CPM rates high.

So how do they get those followers? You also aren't going to get anywhere with your witty take on the news everyone else is reporting. You will have to get hot photos no one else has, a scoop or *something* to get you a break. I debated taking my own paparazzi photos, but the ROI just didn't seem worth it, especially to my wife. :) If your situation and location are different, you might be able to pull that off.

Celebrity and entertainment news is BIG business, but you have to have a certain volume to get advertiser's money. The real question isn't if that's a good niche, the question is if you want to/can build a product that gets that many viewers. If you're doing it right, you will end up with a staff and all kinds of media and entertainment contacts.

Good luck not matter what you do.

The thing I learned about with blogging is that its hard as fuck to make money with them if you aren't persistent and patient. If you want some good books to read about blogs, I recommend these (no aff link): ProBlogger Book — Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income and Amazon.com: Blogging Heroes: Interviews with 30 of the World's Top Bloggers: Michael A. Banks: Books. Keep in mind that I fucking hate reading. The books above make for good 'taking a shit' readings and when I'm waiting for shit to upload or whatever.

The first book is good if you want to know the basics about everything about blogging. I already knew a lot of the topics, but I thought it was cool reading about it in paper form. The second book is cool because it interviews some of the best bloggers out there (Autoblog.com interview was the reason I bought it). It provides good tips (like 1 liner quotes) that will really get you motivated.

Check em out man.

It appears as if you are too. And, yes I'm subscribed as well. :D

lol....so true...as am I.

What kind of traffic stats are you seeing? The key is to get your users to INTERACT and get them INVOLVED.

Have you tried the Mr. Skin affiliate program? Have you tried celebrity polls to CPA offers?

Be creative.

I also don't know if you can do adult celebrity stuff like sex tapes from Juicybucks.com. I've had a celebrity sex tape blog sitting around for years without updating still making a few hundred per month from them.

You could try EPN via phpBay or their widgets. Just set each post up to do a search of the entertainment memorabilia, DVD and CD and tickets categories.

Another would be to try $7 eBook offers like "How to be a Paparazzi" or "Style Secrets of the Stars". I'd probably go for the female buyer here.

Unless you have a lot of money or time on your hands you aren't going to be making big bucks from celebrity blogs.

In my early days I setup some celebrity blogs, but they cost more than they made. This is not to say you shouldn't enter the entertainment/gossip/celebrity niche, but you will have a lot of work on your hands if you want to be successful.

In regards to the fact the Perez Hilton makes $54K a day, that’s not true. He makes around the $100K+ mark a month. You guys are listening to Zac way too much rofl.

If you’re new to the game the gossip/celebrity/entertainment market is going to kick your ass lol.

Create polls based on the gossip you write about. After they vote send them to a zip submit offer.

Thanks everybody here for all the feedback !! Definitely dont want this last part. Ill stick with my FREEDOM working full time with myself and only myself !!
I am just going to be concentrating all my efforts on my 3 other Blogs .

The Celebrity thing just aint my cup of tea.

But again thanks for the tidbits of info. and opinions. It really is great to know that people will take time out to try to help you with questions. :rasta:

BTW, I 100% agree with this. Its been evident in my other Blogs. Fresh, updated content with good Keywords and quality backlinks. Blog twice a week increase to 4 times a week and BOOM over time you double or triple your Traffic. Except the Celebrity Niche :)
