Adwords ads aren't working (literally)

WTF. Last night I typed in a keyword on google to research some of my competition. None of the ads are connecting to the sites, just an error message from firefox saying "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.googleadservices.com."

I thought maybe it was a just a fluke, but I just went back to try the same research and the ads still aren't connecting. Anyone else noticing this? I'm wondering if people are paying for clicks that don't get through to the website. If that's the case, I'd be pretty pissed off about this.
 


are you saying you typed the display url into the url bar? if so, that's common because people use display url for display only. if you click on the ads it should work.
 
Weird, I guess it's just that niche. Seriously, type in "ringtones" and see if any of the ads are working. They don't for me. But other niches are.
 
Yeah seriously, if you're doing research don't click on the ads themselves. If someone did that to you a few times in an expensive niche you'd be pretty pissed.
 
I never click the ads, what with google tracking everything.. Just copy the google.com/.. URL to your clipbard and parse out the target URL.

You could also just go to the display URL but that isn't always the same..obviously.

Someone should make a firefox extension that does this automatically.
