So I signed on to my Adwords account today and read one of those annoying messages that google loves to show on your account snapshot page when they have added a new feature. The announcement was:
New! Advanced targeting for the content network.

Now keywords and placements can work together in your AdWords campaigns. Set placement bids to improve your content network results, or mix keywords and placements to pinpoint the best pages for your ads.
I have a few campaigns that I run content only. So after reading it, I thought I'd give it a shot. What I found out is that Placement does not interfear with any of the other content sites your ads are showing up on, but it does let you look at what sites are bringing in the conversions and what sites to focus your ads to without taking them away from other content sites. They just show up more frequently on the sites that convert for you.

I downloaded the placement report to see what this was all about and it was actually pretty interesting to see where all my content network conversions were coming from.

I ran a test today targeting those sites that my conversions were coming from and have seen a sub $1 cost/ conversion on 10 conversions...I don't have enough data to really say anything for certain, but it's definitely showing promise.

Now go out there, test your shit with it and report back your findings. I'll do the same.

All I have to say is: this is huge.

If you don't know how to pimp this, try/think harder.

its definetly great news. The more power and flexibility google gives us the more we are going to spend with them. Transparency is where its at.

wow nice discovery :-) i was wondering what use it did, if any :-) time to do some testing!
