Hard Work Is The Answer

(For experienced Adwords users) I've been working on scaling a few campaigns recently and after adding a lot of new keywords yesterday, adwords hit me with this message:

The keywords in your account are nearing an unmanageable size. We recommend that you reduce the number of keywords within your account. This will ensure that your account includes the most targeted and relevant keywords possible.

Needless to say I can't add anything more to my account, so I opened an MCC account and added another adwords account in there and linked everything up.

Now my question is...

Since I was in the middle of scaling a campaign, I will have adgroups and keywords on my 2nd account that will potentially overlap with my 1st account. And of course the base url will be the same. Do I run the risk of GOOG thinking I am trying to pull a fast one on them and ban my accounts for this? Does anyone have experience with running different versions of a similar campaign on 2 LINKED adwords MCC accounts?

Thanks.

"cough...cough...Excuse me Mr. Google, can I get it right there in that...no, not there....yeah, there in between the legs...gee, thanks!"

I always hate calling attention to myself...so i keep my pants up and leave Google alone!

Are all the keywords in 1 campaign? In the the first account where it started warning you about keyword limits.

No, they're spread over many campaigns. It's just that this most recent campaign I'm working on put the total count over the limit.

just take the one campaign that put you over the limit, delete it in your first account and re upload it into your second. That should fix you up. Also if you are doing anything slightly shady then I wouldnt be using MCC becuase it just opens a whole can of worms if Goog sees something it doesnt like. Sucks to have all your accounts slapped!!

Thanks Beejeebers, that should take care of it.

If they're linked you don't have to worry about double serving as they dont' allow it in linked accounts unless you get an exception.

Do you think I should still delete the existing campaign in Account #1 and upload it to Account #2 in order to continue scaling; or keep what's in Account #1 and just start the same campaign in Account #2 with additional adgroups & keywords?

I'm a newbie for sure, however, when that happened to me, I called customer service and they raised my limit. I had over 50K at one point and now I don't know what they raised it to. If you are spending mega bucks with them, I'm sure they won't mind (I'm not, and they did anyway). Good Luck!

Ok so do they automatically link accounts that are under an MCC father account? From what I understand the reason for MCC is so search professionals and consultants etc don't have to log in and out of each clients account. If they links them because they were under than professionals MCC then one of the companies would get fucked and not have their keywords showing so I image they don't link them just because they are under one MCC account automatically. I'm sure someone knows better than I do though?

You need to contact Google and talk about this.

This usually only happens if you ask for your keyword limits to be increased, but it can happen if you have a fuck load of campaigns / adgroups. If this is the case then you've officially fucked your account and it should be slow as hell if you're getting that mentioned message.

You can't double serve anyway, if you're using the same display URL on both. However, it's best to keep them in one account.

In theory and use, there's unofficially a 100,000 kw limit. If you go over, call up google. Be careful about pulling your entire campaign out of one account and putting it into another. If you've been running this for a while you'll lose some history and your qs will be hit.
