There are legitimate reasons for not filing for a year or two. You have to have made at least a certain amount to be required to file. Most people do still file anyway, because of tax credits and stimulus payments which equal them getting money back. But some people (at least until the stimulus payment last year) didn't qualify for a single one of those. Not hard, if you're single with no kids.
So LoZ, how about trying to keep your politics in your pants? You're normally a pretty cool guy. I'd hate for you to end up on my ignore list because you couldn't stop offering unsolicited political comments in totally unrelated topics.
Oh, I guess I'm supposed to curse when I chew someone out on here, so... ASSHOLE. But really, you're ok otherwise.
EDIT: Oh, and to be on topic. Don't cheap out. Get an accountant. Just make sure you prepare them for what they're getting into, and see if they can handle that. Places like Jackson Hewitt will just fuck it up. Going there, you stand a good chance of getting some very recently unemployed hack, or someone who was just looking for an extra job, who didn't know what the fuck "tax code" was four months before you sat down in front of them. Much less knowing anything about how to handle self-employed taxation.
And those computer programs... just stay away.
