Been using it for a few years. Dealing with bad congestion which prevents you from sleeping decently sucks ass, having to prop your head up etc.. But Afrin works literally within 2 minutes and it 100% opens up your airways.

The only side effect for some people can be a burning sensation (not for me really) and a throat that feels a bit sore the next morning, which usually subsides quickly.

Just letting others know of it since it seems everyone is dealing with sickness. First time I've been sick in a year n' a half, damnit.

Afrin = Addictive

Here is the problem with Afrin (and I love the stuff)

You can only use it about 3 days MAX before you get 'rebound' aka... if you DON'T use Afrin you're more congested than before you started using Afrin.

My Advice? Alternate nostrils... you really only need one open to sleep so shoot the right or left one up before bed and sleep soundly.

Then... the next night shoot the other.

That way.. when you do 'rebound' it will be only one nostril that is plugged up. Fight the urge to use Afrin to clear it (i suggest during the day) and then you're gtg and you've kicked the Afrin habit.

Yeah, the 3 day thing does suck and you're right about rebound. One alternative to your method is to just get real drunk and you'll sleep through it anyhow lol.

Afrin is AMAZING but I wouldn't use it all the time. I used to use it every day because of my sinuses. Eventually, I learned about the "rebound" thing you guys are talking about and just had to stop using it due to the fact I couldn't function without it lol.

Now I only use it when sinuses/allergies get really bad.

This happened to me as a kid. After about 8 months straight of stuffy nose congestion a doctor told us you can become addicted to those spray decongestants and will stay perpetually stuffed up and congested until you stop using them. After about 2 weeks of not using the problem cleared up completely.

I have had breathing problems for a few years now, been using afrin every day. What i have is a deviated septum and enlarged turbinates. I am eventually getting surgery for both (april). But my ENT doctor FREAKED SHIT and almost called off the surgery once i told him i was using afrin daily. I would probably say i'm "addicted" to it... but i don't want to go cold turkey until the surgery.

By the way... the coupons in the package save me a ton of cash ($30+ a month hahah)

There is a new Advil congestion relief medication on the market. It is sinus medicine, but only treats inflammation. So, it is non drowsy and works amazing. Give it a try.

Oh I remember the good old Afrin after snorting just about every drug you can snort. this stuff is a real life saver when you cant breathe.

The prescription corticosteroidal nasal sprays work the best imo and can be used daily for those with reoccuring congestion/allergies, etc. Nasalide, Flonase, Omnaris, Nasacort etc.
