Ok, so I'm going through some shit looking for something the other day and I'm wondering "What the fuck am I keeping this shit for?". Seriously. So I'm looking at some of this stuff and suddenly I catch myself reminiscing of certain events - camping trips, concerts, summer parties, old girlfriends, college, road trips, etc.

OK, so a few chuckles, a few grins and a few "what the fuck was I thinking?" introspectives - not enough to really justify keeping some of this shit. Then it hit me - why not give some of this shit away as Christmas presents? I figured I could take an item and type up a short little anecdote - "remember the time when we..." sort of deal and then "well here's the bowl we were smoking from that weekend" Get the idea? And then again, it doesn't even have to be an item that you have in common with someone. Could just be something that reminds you of an important time in your life and maybe you want to share it and the story with someone. Anyhow...

I'm sure it's by no means an original idea, but at the very least it might be a good way to get rid of some shit and maybe have a few laughs with some good friends. Anyone ever do something similar? How'd it go over?

I sent an old used rubber to my ex-girlfriend that I banged her with. She was not too impressed back then, or now.

This is a great idea. I've actually done some thing very similar for as long as I can remember. It started when I was in elementary school and we had a 'Christmas Fair' where we could buy our friends and family tchotchkes.

In addition to getting everyone gifts, I take a trip to a mega dollar store in my area with a list of people whom I buy gifts for. I don't leave the store until I come out with an item and story for each person.

Every item is something small and cheap...but it has to be extremely practical and have a reason for why I picked it for the person. These small gestures usually end up being their favorite gift from me because of the practicality. They use the item daily or so.
