I know many of us have crazy sleeping schedules when for the most part we don't have to necessarily be somewhere at specific times on specific days, so I'm sure many of you can comment on the topic.

I've been checking out some alternative sleep schedules such as the "everyman", "uberman", etc. (good post about some of them here) which seem interesting, except I have a really difficult time falling asleep. Unless I'm completely exhausted, It takes so long to convince myself to go to bed knowing I'm going to be laying there bored for a while. Taking a half hour nap would take me well over a half over to get into sleeping mode for. Even smoking weed prior to sleeping barely helps anymore, even if I've been up 36+ hours with little sleep beforehand.

Anyway, I'm thinking about doing a 36 hours awake, and 12 hours sleeping cycle. I figure most people get around six (realistic) to eight (wishful thinking for some) hours a night. Six is one fourth of 24. Obviously 12 is one fourth of 48, my point being that I'd basically just be extending a "normal" persons sleep schedule accross a period of two 24 hour periods instead of one.

In practice, one could wake up at 10:00 AM on Monday the 1st, stay awake for 36 hours until 10:00 PM Tuesday the 2nd, and sleep until 10:00 AM the following day Wednesday the 3rd to continue the cycle.

I find that I do this kind of schedule pretty naturally just on my own, although it's more with a wake up time centering around 5PM.. I tend to work and concentrate substantially better throughout the night/early morning, so getting two full nights awake and sleeping throughout the morning/afternoon hours where I feel less motivated makes a lot of sense.

Hey Guys ,

My name is Abdur Rahman.I want to tell you about success.
See everyone wants to be success and Allah also wants success for us, so that Allah made a right way of life that is called islam. This world is very small compare to heaven, and this life is very short compare to life which will come after death. If we follow islam Allah will give us Heaven (Which is more bigger than 10 times from this earth). In heaven we never even die, never feel thirsty, never hunger. Here we are living in house which is made from cement but Heaven is made from gold and silver and diamond.

So I am requesting to all my brothers and sisters to accept islam and get success (Heaven).

Thanks to almighty Allah.

If you're 20+, I can almost guarantee your body isn't going to let you sleep for 12 hours every 36 hours.

Get the app Winoff, set it to shutoff your pc automatically at specified time each day (for me 23:15 works best).

Works for me...

Depends on how much you need naturally. I know a few members here will do something like 30-8 which is just a little bit more than normal. I sleep about 6 hours naturally w/o an alarm clock and have tried to cut it down to between 2-4 hours, but the extra few hours really won't give you much unless you are already super productive with the time you have right now. I found myself getting bored most of the time really. But I could see needing to do something a little different if you have timezone issues and/or feel better doing it that way. I've also tried taking a little melatonin and it helps you fall asleep a little easier (just give it about 30 minutes). Usually I'll take it before I go freshen up before bed.

I'll probably fuck with different cycles again just to see if I can do it. I have a feeling my nutrition/body wasn't in the best shape for uberman, but after I get into better shape I'm going to try it again. The everyman cycle is like 2 hours less than I normally get and can do with an alarm and 100mg of caffeine anyways so I don't really feel like trying that one out, but maybe just for fun.

EDIT: Triples

try to follow the uberman or everyman sleepying styles extremely strict for AT LEAST 10 days...force yourself to get up awake or not after 20 minutes(for uberman) no matter what for the first couple weeks...eventually you will learn to fall asleep as soon as you lay down. after the first few days of probably skipping a naps here and there you will find it very easy to fall asleep for all the naps since you will be under rested. Also follow the nap times strictly...I had the uberman down for about two months some time ago, but then my weekly schedule didn't fit into the nap times and it messed me up completely...skip a nap, or sleep to late and you have to start completely over most likely.

I've had a lot of success with (roughly) 28 hour days. I don't fall asleep too easily either, so I'd just stay awake till I felt like sleeping, which typically worked out to be around the 28 hour mark. If I tried to go to sleep, and wasn't out of it within ten minutes, I'd get back up and continue doing whatever. Appointments and flights are the only things that really messed with it. With that schedule, I was pretty easily sleeping through any manner of annoyance too.

Do what you feel best doing. If you cant sleep after staying up 24 hours, then stay up 36. If you feel like going to sleep though, then do it.

What's that feel like when you blow the sequence? Are you all fucked up until you get a good 8-10 hours or what?

I've been running 17/7 for the last month after about 5 months of 18/6. I'd ideally like to get to like 20/4 but not if I feel like shit and don't have energy to workout and crush life.

I'm casually trying triphasic right now. 90 minute naps every 8 hours. You end up sleeping 4 1/2 hours per day.

Was going to try uberman, but napping every 4 hours (well, 3 hours and 40 minutes), could be pretty inconvenient. I still want to try it just because of what I've read about it and its affects on mental acuity.

If I can do this triphasic schedule for a few weeks, I'm going to phase in to dymaxion (30 min naps every 6 hours), its supposed to be more hardcore than uberman.

The way I plan it, I would then switch to dymaxion, but keeping 3 of 4 naps 1.5 hours, sleeping 4 hours instead of 4.5 per day. Then slowly change one nap at a time to 30 minutes, until all of them were 30 minutes.

No idea if that's better or worse than the cold turkey plan. Could actually be a horrible idea if it prolongs sleep debt.

If you don't enjoy good, healthy and boisterous shits on a regular basis then I would say proceed as planned.

hi,

instead of trying to destroy your brain with this sleeping schedule, you should try to work on figuring out why it is you are having trouble sleeping right now. are you eating a lot of processed/sugary foods? do you give yourself time to "turn off" at night? is your room completely dark? do you drink caffeine? do you exercise? etc. i promise you the 36/12 schedule will be very self destructive.

and pasha -- 20/4 is retarded. don't do it. 7-8 hours, asleep by around 11 up by around 7 for maximum life dominance.

I am curious to see how this goes... however I will say I have tried all sorts of different sleeping tactics to see if I can optimize my time more, and it always just turns into a headache :)
