Alternative to Majestic SEO and Ahrefs that's for free?

Looks like Majestic SEO has shut down the option for registered (not paying) users to check backlinks. At least it gave me the possibility to check competition and see the most valued backlinks on different sites. As Ahrefs have done pretty much the same thing I wonder if there are any good alternatives to these tools which are free to use?

I know of Opensiteexplorer.org but it's also limited to only a few searches per day and that sucks when I regularly check more than 20+ websites a day. I also know of Bing link explorer but lets face it, compared to the other three tools I've mentioned it is quite bad.

Just buy this fucking Ahrefs subscription. One of the best investments in my (working) life.

Or linkresearchtools.com.

Since I've gotten what I've wanted for free before I just haven't needed to, but you are right. I'll probably end up with a subscription at Majestic or Ahrefs.

I consider myself lucky having such sites offering these services at all. They do it really well and have great CS as icing. And there's enough of them to keep things competitive so they continue to grow and innovate and offer us insights.

Also I'm not sure using only one is a good idea-- at least for buying domains, it's constantly a case where one hasn't picked up all the spam yet but the other has. I'm still testing the waters with small time shit but even then using the two to check each other has saved me at least $50. Ahrefs has a far nicer UX but it's irritatingly slow versus Majestic. Meh. edit: I forgot about OSE, it seems similar to Majestic using trust rank as the primary metric (I'm sure I'll be thoughtfully corrected if that's wrong lol but I think it's not).

If you need a report pulled from ahrefs, just PM me the URL and I will send it back to ya.

This goes for anyone reading this as well.

You're going to pull 20+ reports for him every single day?

backlinkwatch.com? It is free and it also provides detailed report and it's older than ahref and other backlink checkers as well. Well, it works good for me, I don't need to pay any money for checking just backlinks to a website. . .

You get what you pay for in this industry. Ahrefs - hard to imagine buying links, evaluating competitor sites or even buying websites without this tool.

OP, if your at the point your doing 20+ sites a day something is wrong if you haven't already invested in a paid tool for this.

Like everyone else in the thread has said, it's really worth investing in a tool like Majestic or Ahrefs. I personally prefer Majestic, but have accounts with all 3 of the big names. DA / PA is a really good metric right now (DA being the most important, imo) but OSE doesn't always have the most up to date info. Majestic's Citation and Trust metrics are great.
