I'm having a hard time understanding the process of PPC affiliate marketing. from what I can understand this is what you do. You sign up for a network, you get a offer you want to advertise then you create adword campaign. After that you make a landing page then you buy a domain and host your landing page, also make sure your landing page is your destination URL on your adwords advertise. Then code your affiliate link into your landing page, so when people click on the button to sign up they get redirect to the advertiser's page through your affiliate link. finally you get part of the commission when they sign up/buy the product. Is that correct are am I wrong about somethings?

Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, yes, more or less. However the order sounds kind of screwy. Build/host the landing page first, then set up the campaign. If you did it the other way around, the campaign would be rejected because the destination URL wouldn't exist yet.

thanks good to know!

And, if I'm not mistaken, it's common for some network's offers to already have landing pages - so the job of the affiliate is moreso centered around ad placement?

I think you left out the "Lose a ton of cashola learning the basics of PPC" part, mate...

But yeah, subject to the King's mod, you got the picture.

@ Sukuset: Gurgle won't let you direct link to an offer's LP without serious penalty, but some ad platforms do. It depends on the network/offer/ad platforms terms, etc.

If you're just getting started, there are some traffic sources that will allow you to link directly to the affiliates offer so that you do not need a landing page. I think MSN Adcenter and FB both allow direct linking for certain types of offers - do your research to find out which. Direct linking works for lead gen type offers, but you will want to create a landing page for offers that payout a bit more.
