I just got back from NLP practitioner training and know a lot of you here are interested in it (or are interested in self-help/motivation which NLP has a big influence on).

But, before you ask, here are some cool things that I know will make your life better:

I and everyone else are all doing the best we can given what we know at the moment
If you just believe this, it'll be easier for you to get over why your parents abused you, why your employees fucked up, and why you fucked up in the past: you and everyone else were just trying to do the best, there was a positive intention behind the failure and, if you recognize it, it'll make your life and business dealings much easier.

This belief will also make it easier for you to be confident: if you know that the move you are making right now is the best you can possibly do given what you know, you avoid second guessing yourself.

The most flexible element has the most control
Being able to stretch your mind will allow you to relate to more people, have more resourceful behaviors, and innovate better responses. It is only when you have one behavior left that you lose control over a situation.

The meaning of communication is the response it elicits
Think before you say something. Specifically, think about how the other person will respond and, if it does not get you toward your desired outcome, SAY SOMETHING ELSE or SAY NOTHING!

Hope those things stirred up some good questions.

//I'm going to be a master practitioner in November :)

Many psychiatrists believe in reliving traumatic experiences as a way to cope with stress. My crazy ex swears by this. According to the NLP material I've read, doing that doesn't seem very effective. What are your thoughts?

As in certified? How much did you have to be pay to be certified in bullshit?

Maybe I need to switch businesses. Anyone wanna get together to sell NLP 2.0? It involves regular NLP, but it comes with a free JO crystal. We can sell seminars where we all practice NLP and charge our crystals.

NLP admits to itself that it is kinda bullshit but it also says that pretty much every perspective is bullshit. It is basically you realize that everything about your personality is arbitrary and based off how your environment responds to you throughout your life. From that point of arbitrariness, you can kind of lose attachment to your personality/conditioning and then you just pick and choose whatever belief systems and habits are the best for your goals and happiness and condition it into yourself.

Tony Robbins uses nlp to mind fuck people into reaching success, there is no denying that it works. He breaks them out of their unconscious "patterns" of whatever shitty arbitrary habits life settles them into by being this freaky giant guy with big teeth screaming at them, which brings them into a higher paradigm of reality, discipline, and understanding.

What would you do if Tony Robbins was in close proximity to you yelling at you? Have you seen that fucking guy's teeth for christ's sake? That's the magic of NLP. Really every single perspective is subjective, there is no objective way of looking at anything so you might as well live in the perspectives that makes you happy, confident, and rich. Or don't, it's all the same in the end. :love-smiley-086:

What NLP materials did you read?

Removing the trauma from a memory is a great way to get on with your life. This is from what I learned as well as from what I have found out by personal experience.

6 step reframe works very well for this

I'm not forcing you to believe it. If you do not want to believe it and if your life is just like you want it, congratulations.

I believe more in NLP when it is about self improvement than manipulation. There's some good stuff in it for sure, some of it which has been used by the establishment in mindfulness and behavioral therapy.

"There's no such thing as failure, only feedback." <-- that's one of my favorite self-improvey things in NLP. It also happens to be sort of exactly what A-B testing is ...or any campaign for that matter.

Did you learn anything that cant be found in say, the top 10 self help/motivational books on amazon? (genuine question)

NLP isn't for everyone that's for sure but it's pretty cool stuff when you start getting into learning patterns for helping to improve using your senses or maybe in your own business. It's not as silly as OP is making it sound but it can definitely come off that way to a lot of people, so I'm not surprised at some of the responses lol
