Hello. I'm zsocw. I have a history with affiliate marketing, not quite during the 'golden days' but round abouts. My life took a complicated and difficult turn, that 7 years later, I'm now free from. Looking to get out of the 9-5 and back into the game. Glad to see a thriving community like wickedfire around to fill the social aspect.
So here I am. I got some unlim domain hosting, scooped up a few $0.99 .com's, got a friend of mine to be a content writer for one of the niche journals (he thinks it's great for his career since it's related to his business/industry) so I got some free content there.
What I used to do composed of direct ppc->cpa for certain brand watches. I also did cpc->landing pages for mortgage leads. I also had multiple content/product websites that were database driven and cpa. This was back when cold fusion was popular
I did pretty well. It wasn't "full time" pay yet but I felt like I was getting somewhere.
So here I am, starting over, In the world of Web 2.0 and Google Pandora updates.
I'm pretty fluent in HTML5/JS/PHP. I have experience with WP and Drupal.
I'm seriously considering starting the EMD root, and I'm looking into what's-his-faces thread (secretagentdad?) I can't PM him for some reason, not sure if i have to be a subscriber or I have to have a post yet or what.. but it looks promising.
I'm almost looking to start a few content based journals/etc based on what I'm personally familiar with and can write about... most of what I've read here however really emphasizes making a site AROUND keywords or even 1 keyword, so maybe my personal content writing sites will have to be mostly hobby for now.
The next thing that really threw me for a loop was the whole Web 2.0 / drip feeds / acid / linkwheel thing. It all seems a bit blackhat but it's an interesting concept none the less. I'm reading as much as I can but I'm not familiar enough with a lot of these concepts to take everything I'm seeing at face value.
So, hi. I'll be around for awhile.
And yes, I'll take any and all suggestions
Especially around the idea of buying potential EMDs. I think my days of direct PPC affiliate marketing are over (assuming it's even viable for a single individual to do on one's capital these days?). I'd love some direction or just someone to talk to.
If I find my way into purchasing a few high potential EMDs, I'll start one of those nifty blog threads for all to see. Until then... :anon.sml:
