Another stupid condo question...

Ok, i'll make this quick.

This is the first summer in my new condo. (Lease)

It's getting hot outside. (Duh)

As per the terms of my lease, the only utility I have to pay is Hydro. (And internet, phone, yadayada)

Will the air conditioning "energy usage" cause my hydro bill to spike?

It's not one of those window mounted deals, it's a central unit with a thermostat on the wall and everything.

I assume since heat is included in the lease, AC will be too? It's all the same system (it comes out of the same vents, controlled by the same thermostat, etc)

Here in America hydro = something else

I think it has something to do with 'dat dere Niagger Falls and how a very large portion of our electricity was generated through water turbines or something like that until relatively recently.

For example, in Toronto, the main electricity company is called "Toronto Hydro"
 
Why would you call electricity Hydro. That makes no sense. The entire time I thought you were talking about your water bill.

Do you call your water bill your water bill or do you call it something else?

Yeah, I call my electricity wind, because that makes sense.

heat usually comes from natural gas/propane, while AC comes from electricity. so if they say heat is included, i'd imagine they only mean the gas usage. and if electricity is not included, there's no way AC is included; they're one and the same. its like asking if your refrigerator is included.
 
So would I be correct in using the American version as well?

"Babe, will you plug my notebook into that coal-soot over there? Thanks"
 
do you remember this Spiderman cartoon, even there Hydroman is made of water. wasn't this cartoon a good enough education?
