I like to get out and play live at a casino if I can. Have been in to it longer than AM; I see a lot of similarities as far as what goes on in your head -- like motivation to win chips (or make conversions) satisfaction from doing well, etc. What do you guys think?

I played 4+ hours a day for well over a year... Hold'em and Omaha mostly

Tons of fun and profit but in the long run it just wasn't worth the stress.

ps. The majority of games I've played were live. I have however spent my fair share of time in online poker rooms.

I played close to 80 hours a week one time, then I stopped because I HATE THE FUCKING DOWN SWINGS!

But with that being said, I would do it again ... but this time 3 times a week, 3 hour session.

Fri, sat and sun is the most profitable --- that's when the drunk fucks come out to play.

Just the perfect time to put a couple of decent bots in action.

:R:

I have played 33 hours straight through at the casino (Friday evening to Sunday morning), and a ton of 12-16 hour sessions. I was full time (small time too, paid the bills though) for a while but I took some time off, used my bankroll to pay off some debt, and could never build back up after that. *shrug*

At the time I had sworn off poker but apparently I'm still sentimental for it (or maybe I am loopy from staring at long URLs all day)

I'm only an hour from Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. Foxwoods is by the far the best for poker, their poker room is like 4 football fields in size, I remember someone telling me, it's just enormous.

I play only once a month, usually for 20 hours straight, I'll hit a table on a Friday evening and time flies literally in the blink of an eye, and before I know it, it's Saturday late afternoon.

I've found I win more often in the casino, but when I try it online, I choke, I personally need to be in front of my opponents to see their faces... you can't really do that on Party Poker or Poker Stars, etc.

What stakes you guys play? Ever go to a 100-200 table?

I used to play for a living when in college. As someone said earlier, the downswings are sick and the hours suck. However, if you are good, it's an easy way to make good money. I still play every so often and played my first World Series of Poker event this summer. Poker is actually how I got into AM. I met a guy playing in a private poker game who got in Poker AM before the boom. We became friends over the years and I eventually started working with him about 12 months ago.

I would be a part-time grinder if I lived 10 mins drive to the casino.

Otherwise it's not worth the time.

You know you're a degenerate when you ask a guy you semi-know at the poker table if you can sleep in his car.

Ahahha, ahhh those were the days.

Been playing for a few years, 3-4 times a week with friends and a few times a week on Full Tilt. I consider myself a decent player, and take it pretty seriously even though I don't have much of a bank roll. It's tons of fun.

I was reading a book about the richest people in America, and they found a positive correlation between the entrepreneurs (well most people on the list) and playing poker.

I played a lot on Pokerstars. Once they stopped direct deposits (stupid law), I quit. It was too much work to get my money out.

You can direct deposit super easy via e-checks.

Oh and I'm a successful low-stakes MTTer. Might be getting into coaching soon :P.

I used to work at foxwoods awhile ago, awesome poker room. Learned alot playing there, but I find the online stuff is easier to get in and get out quickly, especially if you like to play multiple tables.
