Any suggestions for how to integrate a link and coupon directory into wordpress blog?

I've got my blog about widgets. I blog about cool widgets from all over the web. Now I want to expand my reach and do two things. I want these to be integrated...slickly? Hopefully that makes sense.

1. I want to start a directory, where I can list all the widget companies and organize them by categories. I know I could use phpld or something, but I was wondering if there was something better suited for wordpress (all the plugins I found were defunct).

2. I want to create pages for each widget company with the coupon for that widget company. I was hoping to do this somewhat within the blog, but I couldn't think of a great way to do it.

Would love to hear any suggestions, if not, it's back to the drawing board.
 


You should be able to do this if I get you right. You have multiple categorization methods in Wordpress which you can use.

You could either use the categories as such and create posts within the categories, 1 per company, and then set up a custom field to which you can add new coupons very easily (and format these with PHP and CSS).

You could also use a company as a wp category (1 category = 1 company) and every new coupon you add would be a post within that company. Then you can sort the companies=categories by tags. So actually the companies are wordpress' categories and wordpress' tags are your categories.

Hope I got you right with this, if I did, these would be the two options I see :)
