I think we all know that politicians/campaigns throw around ridiculous amounts of money(especially advertising during campaign season). Has anyone ever worked with a politician or campaign on internet marketing? I think if you were a little creative, and put together a good sales pitch they would eat it up, and be willing to pay a nice amount.

Politicians do not handle their own web outsourcing. They hire full service political consultants, which is a niche unto itself.

If you want to find out how to get into the game, call various politicians, and ask their staffers who handles website issues. Then do the research and find out who the outsourcer is, and then which consultant employs them on behalf of liars and thieves.

I'm quick to point out alot of CPA offer owners aren't much more than liars & thieves as well.

I never did it for profit, but I helped a local state senator set up his social media stuff, like facebook, twitter, etc. Call the office and ask to speak who is in charge of their marketing and arrange a meeting with them. I did it for the experience and so I could truly help the guy.

I own the dotcom for a fairly high-ranked politician and donate it to his campaign during elections. But aside from keeping the site updated for his team, I don't delve into the actual campaigning itself.

Mostly because I'm a student of the in-your-face, "rah rah sis-boom bah" US campaigning style, which would most likely fail miserably here. :)

If you want to work with politicians you better speak their lingo and show them you support their politics. Protip: If you are a libtard do not pitch your services to a Tea Party.

I have done some issue campaigns... The biggest problem is the people who would be your clients are really, really clueless about anything online and cannot coherently articulate what is that they want and how to define success they are willing to pay for. This is very different from your usual CPA / leadgen / affiliate / retail / e-commerce stuff where everyone knows the goal is making more sales/leads.

A goal could be fundraising, supporter / volunteer sign-up or just spamming their messages all over the Interwebz but the bottom line they have to prioritize that over their traditional spend.

Political issues are very volatile. If you hit the right target you could get a super-viral success. If you work for a boring dumbfuck there is not much you can do to prove your value.
