i tried a test today with ringtones and adwords, and i spent 38 dollars, got 21 clicks, and 3 conversions which made me 27$. what i did was had one ad and i bid on the keywords free ringtones, and free ringtone. i set 4 dollar maximum per click but the average per click was 1.25. I realized i lost money, can anyone tell me what i did wrong, i really want to get this right and keep doing ringtones as ive seen how much people are making with ringtones. Should i just bid on those two major keywords and spent more for my daily amount, or should i bid on alot of keywords like 50 cent ringtones, t mobile ringtones, kany west ringtones, britney spears ringtones, etc..?? please help:love-smiley-085:

Think about it: people who search by typing in the phrase "free ringtones" do not want to pay a subscription, thus they will click thru to the offer page and then turn away when the see that they need to pay 9.99 a month. You are targeting the wrong demographic.

Try the test over again, this time using "ringtones", "sprint ringtones", "verizon ringtones", etc.

Also, I don't know which network you are with, but $9 a lead is really on the low side. Most ringtone offers I promote offer $13-16 a lead.

Long tail keywords are where its at, and $1.25 ppc is fucking harsh for longtail lol. Improve your QS and you'll probably see some good sales.

Btw, $27 from a $38 spend at $1.25 ppc is fucking good! Keep it up, lower the ppc and bam, you got yourself a nice earner!

Look for a higher paying ringtone offer. Only if you had a ringtone offer that paid $16 instead of $9 you would have made $10. Also like they have said long tail keywords are where it is at. Use keywords that are "buying mode" keywords Example: how to buy ringtones, where to buy ringtones, etc. More than likely the person is going to signup for those keywords than "free ringtones" And plus your cpc will be much lower.

well what network can i fine a 16$ ringtone campaign? im a member of cj, and millnic, the highest on there i think is 10

k i will try buying terms like sprint ringtones, verizon ringtones etc..but i have another question. these ringtones still have many competitors, should i go big and spent .60 per click and be on the front page or stay low and do the .30 minimum?

You're making first page with .60 bids on ringtone keywords? Or is that just what the traffic estimator says?

I would simply stick with what you are doing, just drop the terms with "free" in them. I agree with everyone else that using long tail keywords is best, however in my experience it is best to try everything. I've had success as both a high bidder on big keywords, and also doing long tail...just test everything and evolve.

Sign up for Azoogle, as they have the best payouts for ringtones.

i bid on "ringtones" and i set my max CPC to 3.00 , how come im still showing up around the 50th spot, how are the people getting on the front page
