i was trying to point out a counter argument with tibet/media implying the chinese invasion was recent. I guess I worded it wrong.

So fucking true, though the war on drugs is a separate control mechanism really. The war on terror is the successor to the cold war, the same people are benefiting from an unwinnable fight against a vaguely defined enemy.

You read The Forever War? Had it on my shelf for ages, keep meaning to read it, bet it's worryingly accurate like 1984 and Brave New World. I wonder what Orwell and Huxley would make of the way their prophecies are coming true.

tbh, I think the war on drugs was the prototype for the war on terror... same basic model... which is sad considering what a dismal failure and waste of resources the war on drugs has been...

I've never read the book The Forever War... just thought the term was appropriate to our current never-ending conflict... I think the book does have to do with time travel tho!
