If your willing to share any tips it be cool of you. I like to try and promote hostgator on my sites because they are low traffic but I get unusually high ctr because the 1 cent ads are really appealing looking but then people realize they have to buy a domain if they don't have one (and if they have a domain odds are they aren't looking for webhosting anyway) and that costs 15.00 dollars at hostgator and they leave. I've probably sent over at least 400 visitors without a conversion, and while I've sure 400 isn't that much, I would of hoped for at least one by now. I've toyed with the idea of trying to make some kind of landing page to explain getting a domain cheaper at godaddy and just using it on hostgator but that seems kind of complicated. So far the only commissions I've gotten was from referring people in real life.

Or you can set up your site in such a way that you could give out a free .info domain to get them started, and guide them toward signing up for the penny hosting at HostGator. Believe a .info domain is like 99c-$1.99, but your conversion rate will be good + you can build a mailing list.

I've promoted them with some success... I'm not sure if it was the audience I was targeting or what but it seems like I was only getting paid for about 65% of the people I referred. To get paid, the customer you refer to them has to be a member for 60 days and pay their bill on time. This 60 day rule caused me to lose a few grand.

I can't complain though, Earning $50-$100 per customer to a $3 or $4 buck unlimited hosting account with a fucking fantastic company? On top of the $0.01, 25% off, or $9.94 off coupon codes? It's like shooting fish in a damn tea cup.

I have this friend that does hostgator and with good success. His method was to give away free domains to selected people who purchases a hosting at hostgator. Maybe some good domain names though.

these ideas make the hamster in my head spin a bit even if it is far beyond my nubcake ken

Yeap.... i promote Hostgator on my personal blog under one of my training sections where I teach people how to install a new bought domain name onto hostgator

But certainly not making the big bucks here to be honest... consider promoting clickbank or cpa network products in the beginning
