Looking for the best options here, any info appreciated. Anyone with background in this please send me a PM or IM on AIM.

Don't know any good formulation companies, but I was in the bev industry and I can tell you packaging & concept is everything.

A small company worked with Holley to make an energy drink called NOS - and the bottle looked like a N.O.S. bottle ... distributors couldn't get it on the shelves fast enough - they didn't give a shit what was in it.

It has to at least taste decent. The drink they give out at Affiliate Summit is perhaps the sickest thing I've ever drank.

You know, a WickedFire energy drink could work too, except I don't think you can put cockrolls on the can. :(

Are you looking for companies with experience in retail distribution? If I ever get a chance to restore my backup of my dead HD, I had a whole bookmark folder dedicated to creation/distribution/case studies of energy drinks...

They have a decently popular one at the clubs here in Spain called "Burn" and that shit burns your throat it tastes so terribly bad.

Agreed. Marketing and PACKAGING is EVERYTHING. It's got to grab attention sitting on the shelf/counter/display.

Taste is important for repeat business. It's also good to have a "story" ... but nothing is as important as packaging and price. Period.

We had 7-11 buying this generic energy drink we got a deal on that was in squeezable foil packages with a drink spout. They loved the packaging. And when we looked at putting it into more standard style bottles they wouldn't even look at it.

The other thing they look at is price - we could get this stuff cheap which gave them the opportunity to make great margins without having to add merchandising dollars/programs on top of the deal.

We also had a guy approach us who was one of the brothers in the Hendrix family - he was a bit of an outcast. He tried to market some Jimi Hendrix beer and got shut down by the family. And then he approached us about an "Are You Experienced" energy drink - again, GREAT MARKETING CONCEPT. We didn't do anything with him though because it was clear he didn't have the right to make these kinds of product decisions with the estate.
