Hey Guys!

I am moving to Amsterdam next week for Uni so I thought I would post here, do any of you guys live there?

I also looked at Co-Working Spaces but they were like 600$ a month and at least the ones I saw completely sucked. Any good Co-working spaces you can reccomend?

There are a few co-work spaces that I saw whilst in the city a couple of weeks ago. My suggestion would be to try and find something slightly outside of the city center. Dutch people don't really grasp the concept of distance because the country is so small, so if you're willing to ride about 10 minutes you'll get something half the price and twice as good.

That said, riding 10 minutes during winter has got to suck big time and considering winter seems to last over there for about 11 months of the year it might be better to just fork over the money for something closer.

Which university are you going to be attending and where are you living? I've got a few good friends that live there now and they absolutely love it. I spent about three weeks there and when the sun is shining I can't think of a nicer country to be in.

I'm currently not living in Amsterdam but I still visit friends quit often, especially for the good parties.

Working wise you might want to look up "Anti Kraak" or ask around. For young startups it's the best way to score a nice place to work in.

A friend of mine managed to get a old-church in south-amsterdam for his paintings, and I worked in an abandon school building with all kinds of different start-ups. (70 EUR per month and the place was huge)

Downside for you is probably the language barrier to get these sort of "buildings" and I can't find a website in english for this, but you can always ring them and ask.

Here are a few numbers/pages:

Plus side of this are the locations and buildings you could possibly get. Big spaces and top locations.

Down side is that you might not find the social interaction you would get with co-locations unless you find a building that is used for several other startups as well.

Will ask around and see if I can get a direct phone number with someone that can actually tell you right away if something is available or not.

Enjoy Amsterdam and I'm always up for a beer or 20+.
