After getting a ninja blender near the beginning of 2012, I have used it almost daily for blending fruits and/or vegetables into tasty smoothies.

So now I bought a juicer which I will use in *addition* to blending. Mainly I'll be using it to increase my intake of nutrients from green leafy veggies, and more of my smoothies will be straight fruit instead of fruit/greens. Or at least not has heavily loaded with greens. The reason for that is because I feel like I digest better when I have straight fruit vs. fruit and greens. But that's another thread...so anyways.

Anyone have a recipe they like? I went out and bought: celery, carrots, kale, cucumber, apples, ginger, and a lemon. I'm probably going to try out the "mean green" recipe from Sick, Fat, and Nearly Dead for my first juice.

By the way - for anyone reading this and thinking about getting a juicer or blender, I would advise to *start* with blending since you get the pulp/fiber that way. Juicing is just a supplement to blending, imo.

So let's talk juicing.

Oh, and here's the specific model I got: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Omega-J8004-Nutrition-Commercial-Masticating/dp/B001RLYOEE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341623828&sr=8-1&keywords=omega+j8004"]Amazon.com: Omega J8004 Nutrition Center Commercial Masticating Juicer, White: Kitchen & Dining[/ame]

There was a 27 page long enlightened members circle jerk extravaganza some months past.

edit: op/i is wizard. good job, how do you like that juicer?

here you go op. you can thank me later. did a ton of research on juicers. mine is arriving tomorrow and it just went down another 30 bucks. (fuuuuuu)

another one which is twice as much is the green star elite. money wasn't a factor for me but i still went with the one above.

if you are ballin and want the absoute best you can get, get the norwalk juicer. it's about $2500.

Good shit. Saw a commercial on TV the other day by Joe Cross (the guy who did the Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead movie) and I guess the movie is free now on his site, good shit. He must be clocking serious commissions on Brevilles through his site.

I bet every single one of you who is juicing is doing it to lose weight. And by the looks of it, none of you have lost any weight. Good job.

let's swap recipes. This is the one I have stuck to

2 Apples
1 Orange
6-8 Carrots
25 Grapes
10 Strawberries
1 Beet (the beet is so good. adds great consistency to it)
1 Head of Lettuce
1/2 Cucumber
1/2 Bell Pepper
+ some ginger

the apples and carrots are key. As long as you have those in there, you can add anything into it and it'll taste good. The strawberries improve the taste so much. And the grapes give me super energy.

how do you guys mix it?

And what is the outcome in ml ?

I use my greenstar everyday it's the bomb...slow/cold press to preserve the nutrients and extracts 30-40% more juice than other brands so you save in the long term...I used to blend more but now I'm juicing instead and adding protein powder and chia seeds in for fibre and calories. Not trying to lose weight just stay healthy, smoked pot for years in my youth so making up for lost time..

I usually use apples and cucumber as the base then add lemon/lime, Ginger and plenty of greens. About 1 liter a day in total...

yall niggaz missin out on essential fibres by juicing, unless youre eating the pulp too.

Nope. Started up again with the wife and our 2 1/2 yr old daughter (who also drinks it) recently.. I'm "fit" by most standards but know I just don't eat enough greens regularly and I'm probably lacking in some nutrient related departments.

keep it simple:

1/2 cucumber
2 carrots
2 celery stalks
1/2 a serving of protein powder(mixed with water prior to adding to the juice)

I have a champion juicer for almost 10 years now and it is still kicking hard. Would love to get a Vitamix, but can't afford one right now. Although the Ninja 1200 looks pretty bad ass and wouldn't mind trying that one out either. Anyone have the 1200?

Vitamix

i have one too. its awesome but not ideal for juicing greens. the high speed will oxidize a lot of the nutrients. same with some juicers. need to go with a slow speed juicer as stated below by appollo. this is the best way to juice.

lol no. i'm ripped. intermittent fasting ftw. i juice organic greens to stay healthy as fuck and energized. low cals/max nutrients. also if any juicers here aren't juicing kale you're doin' it wrong.

nice bro. ended up going with the omega in ops post. how do you like your greenstar? also smoking pot for years? if anything you improved yourself. i consider myself very healthy and smoke pot usually multiple times a day. i actually believe it is more healthy to smoke than not. do more research if you need too. mj is your friend!

Talk about healthy, you should be juicing your plants (leaves and stems in particular) if you want true health from mj. Of course if you are not using the seeds in your smoothies then you are missing out on some major health benefits as well...
