Anyone using WiMax?

* Typical download speeds are 3-6 mbps with bursts over 10 Mbps. Actual performance may vary and is not guaranteed. Performance claim based on tests performed on the CLEAR commercial network by CLEAR.

Up to 1mbps Upload

This is pretty good.

WiMax is going to be pretty cool down the road once its fully implemented, but for now I think AT&T's HSDPA is the fastest data you can get. I have EVDO Rev. A and I can speedtest to 1600kbit, and it will can lot faster if the towers in my area are upgraded.

Better stated upload speeds than TWC in my area. Once my 1st year with RoadRunner cable is up, I'll probably get Clear. The nice thing about Clear is that they offer month-to-month contracts, as well as their 2 year contract.

I've never used a WiMAX connection that didn't suck balls. Unless you're close to the tower, you aren't going to get close to those speeds. I think this was the last WiMAX provider I tried and it was horrible: Airspan

What were some of the pains you experienced?

I'm not about to give up my home service since Uverse is the closest thing I can get to FIOS in my area but I can see Clear (or any other WiMAX service for that matter) being a catalyst in bringing down the AirCard access providers' (Verizon, Sprint) prices.

This would be very handy for me in terms of setting up networks of customer facing kiosk type computers where each one will need some sort of affordable broadband access to the internet.

Well I was about 7 miles from the tower and just barely got 1Mbps download and about 128k upload. The latency was horrible and I couldn't use Gizmo5/Google Voice (my VOIP).

Those were the main two issues... And it also sucked around 5pm-9pm, because so many people were using it that dial-up would have been faster.
