Michael Arrington was pretty smart with this move. He took a huge offer from AOL and cashed out. He was let go, but almost all of the writers were on his side. Pretty much all of the most talented TechCrunch writers have left or resigned, leaving the company essentially only with the brand.

Expect Arrington to get everyone back together soon to start another tech news blog.

Perfect example of why AOL is dumb and sucks.

Don't read it now they change it over for that shitty design, fucking faggots wracked a good blog.

Arrington is doing venture capital now, he has a fund called the Crunch Fund. I kind of doubt he is going to start a new blog besides uncrunched. AOL invested 200 million or something like that in his fund.

AOL now considers themselves as a content company. The fact that they own Techcrunch, HuffingtonPost, and the recent story about the entrepreneur that was staying in their offices is really good press and makes them "cool" again.

Also, it looks like Mashable.com is doing extremely well.

Why would he start another tech blog when he's got enough contacts from it and experience in start-ups to be a successful VC, making many folds more than TC ever could or would?

If he starts anything else it'll be bigger and better.

A true entrepreneur is always looking for something bigger & better than what they did before. You don't go back and do the same thing again.

Yeah good point. But if he doesn't start up another tech blog then i don't understand why writers like MG Seigler and others left. I figured it was all to form a new blog. I guess well find out.
