I don't know if this is old news or not, but I was talking to my brother's friend who works over at AOL Time Warner, and he said they are no longer charging for aol anymore. It's now free for anyone who wants to use it. I think they are betting on their broadband service (which they ended and then started back up). Kind of cool to see this happen.

They plan on beefing up their already insanely expensive advertising to recoup the lost revenue from paid accounts.

I remember looking at AOL as an advertising medium for my mortgage lead campaign, and they wanted $45 CPM, which made me laugh so hard that the ad rep I was on the phone with ended up hanging up on me because I couldn't stop laughing. But that was back in late 2004.

free? Still ain't good enough. Now if they offered me some $$$ to use it...I just might consider it. ;)

Although, their AOL Time Warner Roadrunner service I don't mind paying for.

Is AOL really free? Where can I read this news? What will happen to the CPA offers that are offering AOL trials? Will people who sign up with AOL CPA offers be charged?

What the F...?

Even in today's market $45 CPM is a good laugh.
