apple considering dropping google in safari default

That's great and all, but this article doesn't tell us how many users will go to their settings and switch back to Google.com manually. I know my girlfriend asked me first thing "how do I put Google instead of this shitty Bing" when she got her device.

People who prefer Google will do just like your girlfriend and switch it immediately after the 1st search which means it won't reflect in the numbers quoted in that article. Google lost share because of Firefox. A whopping 2 fucking percent, but still some.

Now if iOS switches to Bing I bet that less than 10% of their user base will even know and 5% will switch it back to Google.... probably immediately just like Firefox users.

Google has abused me as a happily paying customer and therefore no longer has a right to see what I search for, so I changed my default search to DuckDuckGo.

It's not great, but still fulfils 90% of my searches as well as I need. In the other 10% I check Bing, which then fails in about 99% of situations (of the 10% DDG can't find). And for the remaining searches I use Google and immediately clean out all their cookies. Mwhahahaha.

I'm not entirely Google free, and don't plan to be, but I've made a concerted effort to limit my use of them.
