Hi,

I have noticed when I click on certain links that they redirect through mulitple different servers on the way to their destination. Take this page as an example. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) [DVD, Special Edition] - Compare & Buy at the Lowest Price - Pronto.com - Best Prices

If you go to the bottom of the page and click on one of the sponsered listings, I clicked on the target.com one. You will see that it redirects through ask.com, google.com, and clickflipper.com. What is going on here? How does this work? Why is it redirecting through all of these? Where are these people getting their feeds? Thanks for any help.

Airball, thanks for the response, but this isn't really what I was asking for. I'm wondering how the infrastructure works to redirect through different sources. Is it like ask.com buys from google? Or how does it work?

Pronto has a distribution deal with ask.com, who has a distribution deal with Google.com,with the flipper site perhaps logging the clicks for pronto tracking.

i could be wrong but i see it more as:

pronto has click flipper ad feeds, who gets their ads from google, and good has a contract with ask as a "filler" feed.

so in this case, you clicked an ask provided feed, which needs to be tracked by good for stats purposes, which is then passed to click flipper who then provides revenue stats to pronto
