Where can i go to buy or lease a double opt-in email list of say thousands of subscribers?

1) Why would a good list be sold? I'd rather mail to that list and bank.

Yeah, if I had a list like that, I'd hold on to it and milk it for what it's worth.

Build your own list. It's not as hard as you'd think. I used to have a double-opt in newsletter signup on one my niche sites, and it collected email addresses on a daily basis. I've since sold the site, but if you go this route, make sure you have a solid privacy policy.
