Where's everyone planning on staying for ASW? Due to the Rio's stellar location not on the strip, the only hotels in walking distance are the Rio, Palms, and Gold Coast. I would guess that the Rio's shuttle service to their other hotels on the strip is pretty inconvenient.

Back at ASE 08, I stayed at the Renaissance (a few minute walk from the main conference hotel), and there were still plenty of ASE attendees staying there. Any suggestions for other hotels in the area to stay at besides the Rio, or places to avoid?

Thanks!

Gold coast is alright. Not great though and the buffet is the second worst I've ever had. The casino in it pretty much sucks too but you can get a cheap room probably. Oh and theres this dim sum restaurant there though that is freakin awesome. They also have a frequent shuttle to the strip.

i've been partial to Palms Place recently... really sweet loft-style units. with City Center opening up this week, rates are pretty affordable for 4-5 star hotels.... i stayed at the Encore last year for this show... the Renaissance is a bit far... but honestly i think staying at the Rio or right next door is overrated until you are an exhibitor and might need to go back to the room for something...

Wynn is good, I've pretty much stayed at every major hotel on and off the strip. Depends what mood you want. Do you want to see hot models and a chance to see Brittany Spears? Go to the Palms or Hard Rock. Do you want contemporary/modern luxury and cabanas? Wynn. A cheap penthouse suite and hip crowd? The Mirage. A cheap ass place to stay but still get the feel for vegas? The Old Strip (Freemont).. 4Queens, Golden Nugget, etc.

Sure they're all far but plan on just taxi'ing to and fro. If you stay near the Rio and plan to spend most of your rec time on the strip, you'll be taxi'ing there anyway.

I personally like Wynn (Encore is even better, attached to Wynn), Mirage, Bellagio, and Venetian. Luxor is cool to stay in about once but loses its charm fast.

In terms of where to gamble, don't even get me started. ;-)

I'm not too picky about the room itself - I spent so little time in my room at Affiliate Summit in Boston, that I barely remember it (other than the fact they had VGA input into the TV, and used that for some quick work). When I was in Vegas this past spring, I stayed at the MGM Grand, and again, spent very little time in my hotel room. Walking a bit to get everywhere wasn't too bad either, considering I needed all the walking after taking full advantage of the Bellagio's buffet.

I'd more like to stay somewhere where other ASW attendees will be - I had a lot of good conversations, and made some good connections at the Renaissance's bar back in Boston after events.

I'd rather fly in first class, and stay in an ok hotel.

The RIO seems to be totally booked now for ASW so you can take that off your list. I stayed at the RIO last year and it was pretty nice being able to stop by my room for shit before we all left the RIO for what ever action the night was going to bring. It was also quite easy to get to after the parties and whatnot.

The room was decent, internet was like $10/day, but the food sucked. I mostly ate at the RIO since I didn't want to go far for lunch and I was not impressed. This year I was planing on spending less time trolling the exhibit hall and more time at the hotel spa/pool. But now I have realized that for what the trips going to cost me I could go to a hell of a lot other places. Paris, Jamaica, London, etc.. shits gotten crazy cheap. Still don't know if I am going to go to ASW shame to waste that press pass.

I'm staying at the Bellagio so I can get into trouble on the strip.

I definitely want to check out the dim sum place.

Gold Cost's premium rooms looks pretty decent, but I don't think I can say the same for their standard rooms...

I stayed at the Bellagio last year, rooms aren't that much more, better location. Stayed at the Wynn back in October, but other than the old strip, that's about as far as you can get from the Rio.

i actually like the gold coast casino

No, it's not - where did you get that info?

Shawn, depending on the days you book it says sold out.

For instance, when I checked for someone, if you try booking saturday to wednesday it says sold out but if you book friday to wednesday it doesnt. Kind of weird.

Anyway, I already have a room so it doesnt matter.
