Attorney General Says Craigslist Agrees to End Erotic Ads

There is a market for the ads, they will just move somewhere else. Politicians think you can order something to be stopped, and consumers will adjust their needs and wants out of fear of fines or imprisonment.

It never works. People still snort coke, hire hookers and dog fight. The great thing about the internet is that it exists above all legal jurisdictions. Anarcho-capitalism.

The upside of this, is that while the market may shrink a little, it should become more (competitive) profitable per action.

Most are not this stupid, they know and even count on the fact that it will go somewhere else. It makes them look good to get it off craigslist. When it springs up else where it will make them look good to go after it there.

It's like you think politicians actually give a shit about what they are publicly against. They are just taking actions to get votes and could give a shit if that action is hallow or not.

Always look at profit potential in anything. You could create a free exotic ad site. Contact all the current people advertising in that section now on craigslist saying this section is disappearing but you can advertiser for free on my site.

Also the reason why craiglist wanted to keep that section is because it cluttered up the dating section they have. Also you fucking nuts if you ever consider ordering someone off the craigslist exotic section heard some fucked up stories.

No, I don't think politicians give a shit. I never implied what the politician's values are.

Politicians serve only one end. Power.

From the article...

"Craigslist is heeding our clear call for conscience and common sense, sending a strong signal that Internet sites must police themselves to protect others," Blumenthal said in a statement.

I've read that 5 times and I'm still not sure what it means.

Surely the AG isn't purporting to dictate what is sexually conscientious for the populace. Gosh, that'd be... uncharacteristic.

this is redicilous there are call girl companies that advertise as escort services in magazines and newspapers all across the country. But you have to remember you don't pay a hooker for sex, you pay her to leave afterwards.

The erotic ads were probably 50% of the traffic. How are all these poor girls going to eat now in this bad economy. Btw, I heard that Elliot Spitzer is leading the investigation :D
