Azoogle changing name to Epic Advertising...

effective today. From my experience with companies doing this, it usually means one of two things.

The name Azoogle is hurting their business, and they want to wipe the slate clean, or they are having some troubles, and need to change the name for financial reasons.

I know companies say they do this to bring all of their properties under one wing, but I really don't buy that.
 


well azoogle does sound like a cheap knockoff of google.. very unoriginal, epic is much nicer in my opinion.
 
Ya, I can't blame them for wanting to change it. Like john said, it's too close to google, and not in a good way.
 
Azoogle, the name has always just sounded spammy to me. Epic I guess is better, though it kind of sounds desperately not spammy. Just me 2 cents.
 
Better than before but still a dumb name. For being such a marketing "powerhouse", they sure are dumb about branding.

What's so epic about them? Maybe Yahoo should also change their name, to "heroes online", who knows... Sounds very effective and original, yes, for sure.
 
they make how much money and all they could think of was epic advertising? This is something 4chan would have thought of 5 years ago...
 
Eh, they could've done much better on the name - And I'm guessing they paid some branding consultant thousands of dollars to dream this one up...

Does this also mean that they're doing away with the "Nothing Compares" tagline?
 
horrendous. epic, how about diamond pheonix? Just through a precious or semi precious stone in front of a vicious bird...diamond eagle / ruby falcon / etc. I've thought more about this and it is a totally garbage name...sorry guys.
 
Azoogle sounds a little spammy, but at least it's memorable ... Epic? Fuck, everybody's epic these days.

When I worked for Andersen Consulting and we were getting ready to change the name of the firm to Accenture, some within floated the dotBomb name was going to be called mindRocket. Amusing in that some of the old-guard, buttoned down partners looked like they wanted to either fling themselves from the HQ roof or volunteer to go down on Arthur Andersen's sinking Enron ship.
